I don't want to start rumars. I live and work in SC. I've been hearing a lot of chatter about taking a red shirt next year. Is he. And who will man his spot.? Mason?
To my knowledge, military deferral is active duty only. ROTC has no effect, or there would be a lot of people using it to create more redshirt time.I would not be shocked if Hall redshirted in 2018-2019, 2019-2020 seasons to prepare for an Olympic run in 2020. He can use his regular redshirt and then an Olympic redshirt. Manville would be an obvious candidate to slot in there, but he would have Olympic aspirations too (not sure how his ROTC obligations would effect the use of any redshirts, if any).
Just rumors. We're discussing something 2 years out. Mark will wrestle 2017-18, that's a given. After that, it's about Mark's (and his family's), and the coach's goals/desires/needs, both individual and team. Could go several ways...
I meant would ROTC prevent him from using his regular redshirt and an Olympic redshirt during his college career or both?To my knowledge, military deferral is active duty only. ROTC has no effect, or there would be a lot of people using it to create more redshirt time.
Mark redishirting.....agree. It would not be surprising at all.
I agree with this...I do believe that this is the best plan to make room for Mason in the line-upI would not be shocked if Hall redshirted in 2018-2019, 2019-2020 seasons to prepare for an Olympic run in 2020. If I remember correctly from my nephew, ROTC gave him 4 years only. Then he had to go active for 2 years, before going back for his masters on the army dime.I meant would ROTC prevent him from using his regular redshirt and an Olympic redshirt during his college career or both?

That's small potatoes next to Suriano transferring to Rutgers each of the next few years.Hall is going to become the first wrestler ever to begin six consecutive seasons (with an Oly) in redshirt. It is a ploy by BWI and other wrestling message boards to bump up traffic as debates over whether to pull him that particular season rage...
I speak nerd. I'll translate:That's small potatoes next to Suriano transferring to Rutgers each of the next few years.
No way he redshirts this year and that is all I am worried about right now.. if he does this year, Cael is conceding the NC to tOSU and no way I think he does that..
Was typing something similar, when I saw your post, FT. His post last evening stating he/she was going back to "lurk mode" was short-lived.The OP is obviously trolling.
Yeah, the entire thread is all wong. The OP is obviously trolling.
Agreed on this season, and any decision on redshirting in subsequent years is WAY down the line.
