Don’t forget about Shep!
Well......many people on this board undoubtedly think I'm a dark cloud on this board ....but yes those 3 are better players than when they arrived on campus by a mile.Had enough? 0-7. Don't see 10 wins on the year for this team. Are Stevens, Watkins and Reeves any better now then when they arrived on campus?
Which doesn't say a whole lot about Iowa. Gave up more than 80 points to a team averaging 65.Good win by Iowa but they should’ve killed this crappy P St team. Oh well.
That might not work out too well. VT's only other loss was to soon-to-be-#1 UVA.Too bad they can't play Virginia Tech every game.

This team is better than it’s record.
Pitt went winless in the ACC last year and hired a new coach, Jeff Capel, who has done a very good job of making them rather competitive; they've already beaten Louisville and FSU this year. I can't believe that Pitt's current roster is that much better than PSU's. Coaching does make a difference.I hate to think about it, but the chance of a winless Big Ten MBB season is significant.

Capel inherited a much worse roster than any team Penn State has put on the floor in over a decade (that Pitt team last year was one of the worst in the history of major conference basketball). He added three freshmen and a grad transfer who are playing major minutes, but they weren’t any higher regarded as recruits than Dread, Bolton, and Jones were last year. They didn’t have anything resembling Stevens, Watkins, or Reaves on their roster when Capel arrived. The difference is that the offensive scheme that Capel is running is the kind of scheme we all *hoped* Pat would be able to run, and it shows.Pitt went winless in the ACC last year and hired a new coach, Jeff Capel, who has done a very good job of making them rather competitive; they've already beaten Louisville and FSU this year. Disagree.. Watkins is better, wholeheartedly agree. Stevens, not so much and Reaves, other than 3 point shooting, he is not. His offensive game has not developed other than that. He was always a great defender and athlete who was looking to find others for shots but his ball handling is not better and neither is his decision making.Well......many people on this board undoubtedly think I'm a dark cloud on this board ....but yes those 3 are better players than when they arrived on campus by a mile.

One of the problems is that Stevens believes he is better, which has translated into him firing up bricks for long stretches of games, and those stretches can not be recovered from by the rest of this roster.
All three are better than when they played their first game as a freshman. From a physical maturation stand point alone they are clearly better players. We are not talking about are they as good as we think they should be with good coaching and a more structured system.Disagree.. Watkins is better, wholeheartedly agree. Should be a W tonight if they play their game. Iowa won’t have their leading score and isn’t very good. Only beat Pitt by 1.
“Great” chance, Greg?
More like a “reasonable” chance.
Should have known “no chance”.
Ehhh, weak point. Of course they are marginally better they have played 3-4 more years of ball. But outside of Watkins has anyone gotten any better than they would have by sheer individual practice on their own? NoAll three are better than when they played their first game as a freshman. More importantly, have they gotten better as a team? The answer is no.Ehhh, weak point. Of course they are marginally better they have played 3-4 more years of ball. But outside of Watkins has anyone gotten any better than they would have by sheer individual practice on their own? No
Of course ....you know I agree with you from a team standpoint. I think the lack of system has held Stevens and Watkins back immensely because the offense doesn't set them up to receive the ball in a position to score. I think it often shows up in a lack of patience with the team trying to force the action rather than running an offensive set. Hopefully, Reaves can get a shot in the NBA to reward his defensive efforts.Ehhh, weak point. Of course they are marginally better they have played 3-4 more years of ball.
