PSU needs to win the last two in order for a chance at the BiG tournament.

First minute: 2 possessions for each team. PSU has 2 TOs. MD made 2 3s.

Hoping PSU got their scoring drought out of them and can run the final five minutes here like they played the final ten minutes of the first half.

PSU usually leads at halftime then melts down in second half. Dejavu all over again.

Konan with foul and technical foul. Dunn with 2 missed FTs. So many fouls. Baldwin forces the shot to tie for the second straight game. This team simply doesn't know how to win.

Sitting with my son watching on tv. He is very excited after the block call was reversed and we are down by 2. I told him the truth - we will screw this up. The program is cursed.

My heart goes out to them; I think they are a good team that had a bad stretch and they kept fighting. This senior class I think had some good character people who represented the blue and white well.

I really think PSU hoops is like an expansion team in its second year. This offseason and next season will be key. We'll see if coach Rhodes can keep it all moving forward (fingers crossed).

I think this officially and mercifully eliminates us from the BTT. Have to regroup and rebuild and hope next year is alot better. It has to start with instilling a defensive minded culture. Beyond that getting the team to perform in the clutch. Not expecting to win every close game but finding a way to lose every one like this year is ridiculous.

Can they hold onto Yonic? It will be a challenge.

Pivotal off season for Rhoads. Losing ace, Kern, Hicks, puff and dunn. Mingo will replace ace, but we need at least 3 quality transfers. Throw in that konan could easily be gone too. Either pro (most likely euro) or transfer to somewhere that wins. Desperate for shooters and wings.

It’s a failed experiment. Time to move onto a different head coach.

They had plenty of chances to win that game, like others this year.

The biggest "Cursed Choke of the Day" goes to Demarco Dunn.

90%+ free throws shooter misses not one, but two down the stretch when we were down 3.

Anybody would take him there in that situation in a big game late against a ranked opponent. Didn't work out, and Ace misses a 3. Hicks had a turnover a bit earlier driving which was misguided.

Lotsa talent. Injuries hurt. But almost unfathomable close to the season. Cursed indeed.....

I wouldn't put it all on Dunn but yes those 2 missed FTs really hurt. PSU had 16 TOs (Konan 5, Ace 3, Kern 3, Dillione 3) that led to 21 MD pts. Once again Kern proved to be a liability. Several players were lazy closing out on 3 pt shooters.

I underestimated the impact of losing Puff. He wasn't great but he was solid fundamentally. This was the most experienced team in the BiG. They were 9-11 last year with every starter returning except Wahab. Konan > Wahab so what's the explanation for going 5-15 this year? Puff is one answer but IMO some of the problem is that the team quit playing hard and concentrating on fundamentals. Not blacking out, not fighting as hard for loose balls, not closing out on 3 pt shooters, not taking care of the basketball. All of those little things make the difference in the single digit losses.

I can't imagine Konan turning pro. It's possible that he could leave for more money but I expect PSU to put a priority on keeping him.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Dillione and Carter. Dillione has two years remaining and Carter is just a freshman. I think both can be good perimeter shooters, they're just young and they lack confidence. I don't know what to think about Goodman. Hopefully he grows up quickly. We only have 2 scholarships remaining unless somebody leaves so Rhodes better make them count. We really need a strong 6'9" PF who can score inside and rebound. There's going to be a lot of pressure next year on Mingo. Talor Battle probably had the biggest impact as a freshman and he only averaged 10 pts (34.5%) and 3 assists in his rookie season.

Those FT and Dillione missing the reverse layup were killers.

Yes, and Ace although he competes like crazy did not show much down the stretch with too much dribbling leading to getting his pocket picked. And then he wants to take the big shots at the end but can't make them.

At this beginning of the season I believed that this would be a great season for PSU BB with Ace and Kerns leading the team into the NCAA. But Ace, partially due to injuries didn't seem to provide what the team needed in key moments and Kerns' lack of outside shooting ability also really hurt the team and prevents him from being a true star as his defense is good and he's dynamic on the break.

So my optimism for next season is based on Konan coming back as his game really exploded as the season went on, Dilione playing very well and returning with 2 more years of eligibility, and the potential of the younger players such as Goodman, Carter and Stewart and their likely improvement with a good off season. The incoming point guard is supposed to be the real deal too.

The player leaving that I believe PSU will miss the most is Dunn, who was rock solid shooting 3's and also showed high talent taking it to the hoop. Hopefully Rhoades gets help replacing his shooting from a mature incoming transfer.

Agree with your most of your post, but Goodman, Carter, Stuart and Nzeh are a long way from being able to start in the BIG. Right now they are not even quality bench guys. If Yanic and Dilione stay, along with the highly ranked point guard coming in, we still need help from the portal to stay out of the league's bottom.

From what I saw of Nzeh I don't believe he has the skill set to contribute more that eventually being a big body for short minutes and provide some rebounding and defense if the staff can help him improve his defense. But the others, Goodman, Carter, and Stuart, seem to just need strength and some continued development and experience, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them as very good contributors next season.

And like you I'm hoping for a couple key additions from the transfer portal. It's hard to believe what the staff has done with Konan, and it seems he has the talent to improve going into next season. And the fact that Rhoades got him from Northern Illinois with much more prominant programs not recognizing his potential says something for Rhoades' ability to recognize potential and develop it.
