Connor McGovern: OL, 6-5, 323 pounds, Junior

If McGovern decides to leave for the NFL, he’ll find himself getting drafted anywhere between rounds 2-4. NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper rated McGovern as the top guard prospect in the 2019 Draft (if he were to declare).

McGovern is an experienced, three-year starter who has a high ceiling and great maturity. He’s versatile and has helped in the past by playing center for the Nittany Lions. His strength is improving and he’s agile for his size. He’d be a nice fit for a team looking for a versatile, coachable, raw talented interior lineman.

did he get an evaluation from the NFL? and is so, what round?

I wish CM nothing but good fortune :) regardless of where his suitcase might land.

Speaking of which, he could do a lot worse for himself should the Bears wind up drafting him. I'd bet most here are aware of Connor's deficiencies heading into the professional ranks. Should Chicago land him, he would be under the tutelage of one of the very best position coaches in the business, the Bears Harry Hiestand. We'd discover in very short order just how high Connor's ceiling really is.

His father, Jim, told my daughter in law in the beginning of the season, that if Conner stayed healthy, he would probably enter the draft. I was hoping all season the mind set would change. Conner has been friends with my grand daughter since HS. Both are PSU students.

Best of luck Conner.

No offense to CM, but if he truly is the #1 guard prospect coming out of college this year, it must be a pretty weak year for guards. Solid at times for sure, but can remember several instances where his lack of lateral mobility directly led to QB hurries/sacks. Hope he's getting good advice.

Maybe he'd better at some things if he was coached better? His talent and flexibility alone has him very high on boards I guess.
