Menet and Sanders both now 5 stars on Scout

Wouldn't be surprised to see Simmons ranking go way up (maybe not 5 stars but close) based on reports.

This is excellent news, no doubt brought upon by their great performances at the all-star games. But, the cynic in me finds it hilarious that it took a relatively meaningless game and week of meaningless practice to give these guys their fifth star. On 247, people were on pins and needles waiting to see if the Recruiting Gods would grant certain players another star based on their performances last week. All that said, it's great for them, and great for us.

You know, I understand in the grand scheme of things all that matters is if they can play. But there is no doubt that the perception of having highly ranked recruiting classes helps you recruit other players. Highly ranked recruiting classes sways opinion makers who write about your team on a local or national level. All of it plays into "the vibe" that surrounds a program. And it matters. It's why PR firms exist. We can wish it didn't matter and it isn't important, but it is.

Agree - nature of the beast.

Sanders has excelled at every single camp he's shown up at to the point where there's been 5-star buzz for a while. At UA, he outperformed 5-star Kareem Walker daily when competing side by side which removed all doubt. I would say this is well-deserved and there may be some movement from other sites in the near future as well.

I'd rather have Miles Sanders than Kareem Walker. Now, I know that when I say that most people will think it's because Sanders is the one who committed to PSU, however that's not the case. I haven't seen Walker play or watched his film. I know he's rated the top RB in the country, though. I also know that reports out of the UA practices were that Sanders was outperforming the kid in basically everything at every practice.

However, Sanders if from western, Pa and from a school that has produced some really good talent over the past decade or so that PSU hasn't been able to get. Walker, while I'm sure is a fantastic RB in his own right is from NJ, although that is still a recruiting hotbed for the northeast.

All things being equal, I'd rather have the kid from western, Pa who is from a school that produces some nice D1 talent. It's about time this program starts landing kids from those schools in western, Pa where we can build good and lasting relationships with the staffs there. In the past the studs from those schools typically went to OSU, UM, or Pitt. It's one of the reasons why I love Aaron Mathews as a commit. The other being his highlight video where he looks extremely athletic and flat out dominant.

Does anybody else see Mathews getting looks at QB? I do.

Yeah, there were some links posted to discussions of the UA practices and when I clicked it was clear that Sanders was the best running back there. There was no waffling about this.
