The sky is falling. I hear that many years ago James Franklin failed to sign the #1 PSU recruit and #3 in the USA! Those were tough times.......LOL....where is he (recruit) now. #1 NFL draft choice no doubt.MSN

I'm on Eleven Warriors a lot and if you've followed them over the last few months, the top 2 - 2024 - Ohio kids that OSU are after are two CBs named Scott and West - they need defensive players very badly. I believe they're the top 2 rated Ohio kids. The sky is falling. I hear that many years ago James Franklin failed to sign the #1 PSU recruit and #3 in the USA! I'll bet this RB was not at the top of their RB board.I'm on Eleven Warriors a lot and if you've followed them over the last few months, the top 2 - 2024 - Ohio kids that OSU are after are two CBs named Scott and West - they need defensive players very badly. Not sure but they did offer him. I guess the strange part about the original post is that every recruiting power doesn't put all their eggs in one basket. OSU - like many of the other powers - probably has 4 or 5 RBS that they'll take a commitment from. Every major recruiting power is going to lose a few including Alabama, Georgia, OSU, Clemson etc.......I'll bet this RB was not at the top of their RB board.
At this point, if someone at the top of the board is "in play," the offer may not be committable. Not sure but they did offer him. This is a strange post for a PSU board.
I dislike Michigan equally. I simply found the information to be an interesting development.OP tends to like posting anything construed as negative about OSU.
Hopefully he doesn't play Ole Ted on their boards.
I just found it very strange for a rival fan to be attacking OSU recruiting - they excel at it.OP tends to like posting anything construed as negative about OSU.

I thought that might be the case and did some research. By all accounts this appears to be a big loss and he was most likely one of two RBs OSU would take this year. One article compared this to losing Allar and Saunder to PSU. He almost certainly had the green light to verbal. Even the OSU fanboys are stunned. No one is saying OSU passed on this guy.At this point, if someone at the top of the board is "in play," the offer may not be committable.
Wasn't attacking, was linking a new strategic development. Michigan has started pulling top talent out of Ohio.I just found it very strange for a rival fan to be attacking OSU recruiting - they excel at it.
Now, the OSU defense? That's a whole different story. It's cost that school bigtime over the last 3 to 4 years under defensive-clueless Ryan Day. It was on full display in their 41-40 loss to Georgia in the Playoffs last year when they blew a 14-point, 4th quarter lead.
Yeah, reading the same. It sounds like the 3 kids-RBs that OSU was after hard was Peoples, Marshall and fast-rising, high 3-star Williams-Dixon out of Columbus, OH......all 3 supposedly have committable offers to OSUSounds like he didn’t have the green light to committ at OSU.

It sounds like you have a grudge against OSU like I do against Michigan whom I consider the most ARROGANT fanbase out there. When they're not getting it done in athletics, they're throwing the "education" stuff at you.Wasn't attacking, was linking a new strategic development. Michigan has started pulling top talent out of Ohio.
Ohio St has had top 3 in the nation recruiting for almost the entire decade since they last won a national championship but that simply wasn't enough to get it done for them over that decade. Now they have lost 2 straight years to Michigan who is starting to land top recruits in Ohio.
At some point this will likely erode their national recruiting while it appears that Michigan is making a move to own a portion of their in-state recruiting. 4 of 9 of Michigan's currently #3 ranked 2024 class are from Ohio (3 of those 4 from Ohio are 4 stars and the other a high 3 star). Their strategy is clear. They don't just want to beat Ohio St on the field in Michigan and Ohio. They want to own Ohio in recruiting in both Michigan and Ohio. Eventually landing a bunch of recruits in Ohio will build their relationships in Ohio high schools. You have to admit that it is an interesting development.
Trust me, I share your disdain for Michigan. I just don't have my eyes closed to what they are doing. They are bringing it to Ohio St on the field and now looking to undercut their backyard in recruiting. Hopefully Michigan's resurgence is an anomaly but right now they own Ohio St and are making it known in the state of Ohio. I'd be fine with Michigan and Ohio St falling off a cliff but that isn't likely. It sounds like you have a grudge against OSU like I do against Michigan whom I consider the most ARROGANT fanbase out there. But I'll clue you in on something - OSU will be a recruiting powerhouse up to the day they're throwing dirt over my grave. Go back and look at some of John Cooper's classes at OSU when he was getting dominated by Michigan in the 80s and 90s. He had blockbuster class after blockbuster class. That was the rub against him by the OSU faithful - he lost to UM with superior talent......kind of what Day is doing now.
But, yes I agree with you, OSU is going to lose Ohio players but will still get 80 to 90% of the Ohio kids they go after. Almost all of the in-state kids that turn down OSU have historically went to either Notre Dame or Michigan. Some kids just want to get away and that includes kids that PSU loses. Just the way it is.
We agree this - unfortunately both will be around for quite awhile. There are rumblings in Columbus that if Day doesn't get it done this year, Mike Vrabel could be on his way back to his alma mater.Trust me, I share your disdain for Michigan. Agreed. Most likely scenario is that one of them falls back to 3 to 4 losses per year (counting their near annual bowl loss). My money right now is on Ohio State doing that especially if they lose to Michigan yet again this year. They have had a very serious talent advantage for the last decade and somehow Michigan has overcome that.We agree this - unfortunately both will be around for quite awhile. Yeah, we're talking about OSU and Michigan but PSU could throw a monkey wrench into the UM-OSU party this year. I've seen all 3 rated in the top 5 or 6 national preseason polls. Would not feel comfortable picking a winner out of that group.Agreed. Most likely scenario is that one of them falls back to 3 to 4 losses per year. The evidence points to Ohio St's coaching requiring top 3 national level talent or better to win the Big 10 and that talent gap is eroding. Michigan is catching them on talent and PSU has closed a part of the gap though still has more to go. But Michigan has proved you only need close to Ohio St talent to beat them consistently. If that continues, Michigan will pass Ohio St in talent and PSU will be a notch behind in the talent composite.
If Notre Dame gets by Ohio St, I see maybe 1 loss total, maybe 2 in that schedule. I don't think they beat the Buckeyes but it isn't a given.Yeah, we're talking about OSU and Michigan but PSU could throw a monkey wrench into the UM-OSU party this year. FYI - keep an eye on the ND-OSU game this year. Not trying to sound like a homer but with Hartman transferring in at QB, ND could be the team to watch this year. This should be their best offensive team in a while and really test the IFFY OSU defense - hopefully
The B1G is really easy to forecast - it goes through OSU's defense. If OSU throws out the same shitty defense it has for the last 3 or 4 years under Day, both PSU and Michigan has the offensive firepower to torch them. If they can field just a slightly above average defense, they'll run away with the B1G - but I have to see that first.Yeah, we're talking about OSU and Michigan but PSU could throw a monkey wrench into the UM-OSU party this year.
