I've went back and looked at Michigan's rushing totals so far in their B1G games after PSU got gashed for over 400+ yards on the ground today.

They ran for 241 against a weak Maryland defense
172 against Iowa
165 against Indiana.

So my question.....was it really all about a strong - dominant Michigan OL? I'll let you make up your minds.

Ran the Duo all day which is used to get a lot of double teams. The RB reads the LB. If he over pursues, back cut. If he doesn’t, go off tackle. No one on the line could blow it up at the point of attack. The RBs made proper reads and found open territory with no LB to fill the gap.

Exactly right and my point is that yes, the Michigan OL is good - but Jesus Christ, not that good. Somebody on the PSU defensive staff should take a pay cut after this one.

When you don't trust your DL to handle most of the run responsibility, you will have help (LBs & safeties) selling out to stop the run. If the running back manages to bust pass that initial 8 guys, he will often go for long runs. That is what happened today.

There was a personnel disadvantage up front though. I said weeks ago the entire season would come down to DL push and our QB play. I realize that sounds like stating the obvious, but I didn’t think either would go in our favor.

Franklin should resign. His teams are soft - physically and mentally. He owns this.

I went over to the OSU - Eleven Warriors and found an article that said they fired their whole defensive staff (minus Larry Johnson) and brought in DC Nowles (sp?) whose defenses are strictly designed to plug up the middle for runs and harass the QB. They play a lot of man on man in the secondary and he was hired because of the way Michigan ran the ball down OSU's throat last year. Nowles even said to expect 3 or 4 big plays against them every game but in his eyes that's the price for stacking the line. You can bet that they're going to make that Michigan QB beat them in November

I was watching the game with a few PSU fans today and they were furious that they couldn't stack up the LOS - it was just insane. Why they couldn't apply the defense that OSU employs is a big question mark. 400+ yards on the ground - really?
