He’s not going anywhere and doesn’t ever want to leave. Hey, my uninformed guess is just as accurate as your uninformed guess.I can actually see this happening for many reasons
1. All modern, collegiate coaches have an institutional "shelf-life"
2. Their coaching passion and messaging with internal / external audiences all diminish with time
3. Franklin is in his 8th year at PSU and is now the 4th longest tenured coach at PSU.
I think James and Fumi are ready for a change of scenery and assignments. As is always the case, the wife is the decision maker.
This is so tiresome. If he goes, he goes. PSU will get a new coach and we’ll root hard for that coach
Why? LSU has won 3 titles recently. It’s a talent rich state with no other big in state schools to compete with. Plus you can go next door to Texas and the talent rich southeastern statesAt this point I think he wants to win a national championship. The calculation will be where is that going to be possible?
At PSU he has a chance of getting into the playoff, but it isn't happening every year. It might happen once or twice in his career. At USC he might be able to go very frequently. At LSU? I don't know why he would want the LSU job over PSU. If he does, then he isn't thinking clearly
USC is Urban's if he wants, and he would do outstanding there.
LSU has won a Natty two years ago and has the 9th best class coming in, plus he would get paid 8-9M and have good facilities. At this point I think he wants to win a national championship. The calculation will be where is that going to be possible?

Why would LSU winning a NC two years ago play any role at all? That has nothing to do with Franklin. And Franklin has a better class coming in at PSU. Bottom line, we can guess all we want but only Franklin and his wife know what they want to do.LSU has won a Natty two years ago and has the 9th best class coming in, plus he would get paid 8-9M and have good facilities.
I fear LSU more then USC.
Urban has lower standards. Have you seen Cayman Nebraska without makeup? She's at least a one-baggerHe’d be on the Song Girls like stink on shit.

So SEC West is no better than B!G East so that is a draw IMO. Baton Rouge or St College isn't close IMO. The fanbase and admin is much less tolerant. Ed O won a natty 2 years ago for crying out loud. LSU culture doesn't seem to match CJF.
USC. Lot's of glitter that SC can't compare to if that appeals to CJF.If CJF really wants to win a NC I am not sure he is better off in LA. USC's last 4 recruiting classes 18, 71, 8 this year 34. So his starting point is probably a couple years at a minimum behind PSU. He and his staff have no Western ties and other than Pry I am not sure who goes with him. I don't think CJF being in LA will dramatically change the current image of west coast football. I still think USC wants the panache of an NFL guy.
Orgeron's problems at LSU go beyond his W-L record. Program is an absolute train wreck and his personal and professional behavior didn't help.
And Scott Linehan, too. After one year on the job, cost LSU $7mm to get rid of both of them.I read he didn't even interview Bo Pelini before hiring him. He admitted that. Wow.
He truly did not do himself any favors. But I did read one of those articles and it sort of looks like the same woman with him in every picture. So it seems like maybe someone is trying to force him out and exaggerating the story
Franklin has been very open about wanting to be the first black coach to win a national championship. So is he closer to that here or if he moves to USC? I think he's clearly closer at PSU.
I think Fickell is a good coach but he is a Ohio guy and really has a good thing going at Cincy. Think it will be tough to pull him away from there although a high level Big Ten job would be a step up.Not to hijack the thread. However what is the opinion on Luke Fickell at Cincinnati?
half of "us" don't root for CJF, so what makes you think "we" will root for a new coach? This is so tiresome. If he goes, he goes. PSU will get a new coach and we’ll root hard for that coach
I read an interview the other day with Luke & Wife. She’s an Ohioan and doesn’t desire to leave. Very interesting.I think Fickell is a good coach but he is a Ohio guy and really has a good thing going at Cincy. He's a Midwest guy and just don't see him leaving for USC. Think he stays at Cincinnati until the OSU or ND job opens up. And that's not as crazy as it sounds as Ryan Day has no previous ties to OSU and Brian Kelley has been at ND for 11 or 12 years now. PSU ? Franklin isn't leaving. Not to hijack the thread. However what is the opinion on Luke Fickell at Cincinnati?
No but is a lot easier to get double digit wins and he was already on the big stage at tOSUAny P5 job would be a step up. It is not possible to sustain a top 5 program at Cincinnati.
He struggled as the interim at tOSU. Doing extremely well at Cincy less pressure. Not saying he won’t leave but I think it will be harder to pry him away from there than some people think. Would be absolutely shocked if he went to USC.I read an interview the other day with Luke & Wife. She’s an Ohioan and doesn’t desire to leave. Very interesting.
And with those crazies in Columbus, that could happen if he loses another game this yearRyan Day could easily screw things up and get fired at OSU. I don't know if Kelly is going anywhere at ND.
Again, I just don't understand what USC has that is better then LSU? LSU paid their coach more, has better facilities, and better class coming in.He is closer at PSU. It may be a wash with USC, since it would be easy to make the playoff from there. He is really dumb if he leaves PSU for LSU
Not a fan of LSU whatsoever but in the current era it is one of the best jobs in the country. Facilities, stadium, rabid fan base, fertile recruiting grounds, no other power 5 in state schools and a a do anything win at all costs mentality.Again, I just don't understand what USC has that is better then LSU? LSU paid their coach more, has better facilities, and better class coming in.
USC is a total dumpster fire program that won't be relevant again for 5-10 years.
Franklin has been very open about wanting to be the first black coach to win a national championship. So is he closer to that here or if he moves to USC? I think he's clearly closer at PSU.
Obviously, his family is the wild card. They trump everything.
I don’t care what you do, Karenhalf of "us" don't root for CJF, so what makes you think "we" will root for a new coach
I don’t think they can hand it over to a guy who has zero experience running a major college football program. The wrong hire would set the program back years. They would need someone who is proven that would hit the ground running to save the recruiting class. And someone is going to say “Ryan Day says hi”, BS, well good for them but I wouldn’t do it with Yurcich. Ohio State is a different animalSo then, where does PSU go next? I hope it is Yurcich. My gut feeling is that he is going to have a better head coaching career than Pry.
If he leaves, it’ll probably be that he feels he’s peaked at psu and no matter what he does, it’s a 9-3 , 10-2 program. He might feel that’s the best he can do without total support and funding from PSU and also the NIL arms race. He could easily sell major NIL opportunities from the USC coaching seat, and maybe he just wants a new challengeI still don't think this is the year Franklin moves. If he keeps the #1 recruiting class, then his best chance at a national title is 2023 or 2024. I don't think he's a PSU lifer, but, maybe he is here for three or four more seasons.
ASo then, where does PSU go next? I hope it is Yurcich. My gut feeling is that he is going to have a better head coaching career than Pry.
