1) ND's DL is small, Can PSU run on ND?
2) Can PSU protect Allar vs. ND Blitz Package?
3) Can PSU WR's get open versus ND CBs?
4) Does ND have someone that can stay with Tyler Warren?
5) Can ND Protect their QB versus PSU front 7?
6) Is there a WR that can scare PSU Deep?
7) Will PSU keep a spy on Leonard to keep some of the runs in check?
8) Final Score

My answers:
1) PSU will run on ND at least 150 yards of running possibly over 200 yards.
2) Not sure.....we need more quick throws....ND is very fast in the front 7 and very aggressive CB play.......
3) Not consistently. ND is very aggressive at CB.....a few holding, DPI calls would be helpful to back them off a little bit.
4) NO. Warren will have over 7 catches. Warren and RBs along with Allar running will be the keys.
5) Depends upon Abdul Carter playing......we will get pressure, but PSU will stay in their lanes keeping Leonard in pocket
6) No....ND has good possession receivers but no one really that is scary. The LAX player is quick.....Edleman like, but not a 60 yard over the top guy. Their TEs are good.
7) Yes
8) PSU 24- ND 20 These teams are remarkably similar.....good defense......good running game.....good OL.....good TE....average WR..... ND has better LBs, PSU better DEs if Carter can play........fairly easy path (for a playoff) to get to the final 4. UGa was not UGa this year and I was pulling for UGa especially with such a Newbie at QB.

I think your Question #2 and the status of Abdul and DDS are the keys to the game. I’m no expert but I think Allar has issues with his hot reads. Boise got to him 4 times for sacks. I think Golden throws the house at him.

Let’s hope Abdul and DDS are ready to go at full speed.

1) I don't know about 150-200 but we'll be effective on the ground
2) No, and we won't adapt to quick throws. We're going to need Warren and the wideouts to beat man coverage and the protection to give Drew time as we're not Oregon
3) No
4) No--Kiser gets the first shot though and they may double him
5) Kind of--they won't allow Leonard hold the ball long--think BGSU
6) Collins and Greathouse to a degree but I doubt they'll take many deep shots
7) I don't think we'll spy--I think the ends will be asked to keep contain to keep Leonard in the pocket
8) I don't know yet...my heart say Penn State 20-10. If I take that away I'm reminded Franklin doesn't win these game and ND isn't a great matchup for us so I'd said Notre Dame 16-14 but it will be a battle. I wish we got UGa but can't always get what you want.

DDS is fine. He just had cramps.

The game comes down to the line of scrimmage on both sides. Can we get the run game going? That is a huge question and probably the biggest along with Abdul Carter status. If we can run then I think we win. I say that assuming the defense plays well along the line and LBs tackle well have gap integrity. Even if Carter is minimized we can beat them IF we can run it.

Back to offense, by running it will open up Warren and even a little to the WRs like over the top to Omari. If not then we become more one dimensional and they can double Warren easily and our offense is stuck in mud. Warren is our X factor. He single handedly could win it for us with the right game plan. They don't have a Caleb Downs (the only defensive player who can matchup with Warren). We just have to give him some room by keeping them honest by having some success running. I think running for about 160 yards will do it maybe 130. Have to be over 100 for sure.

On defense can we control Leonard from running and not allow their RBs to easily run? They don't have good WRs. Shut down their run game and Leonard getting loose and they are cooked.

Our QB is better and our TE. They have a good TE but their TE will not beat us like Warren can beat them. Warren is our X factor and we need to rely on that. In other words if the only real bright spot for them is their TE on offense then we win. We can't let them run well (with their RBs) because that opens up things for them.

Final comment. Franklin needs to coach well. Not scared and not coaching to not lose. Be loose, the team will feed off that. ND will want to out physical us. I bet they think we are soft. Freeman strikes me as a guy/coach who thinks we are soft. Need to smack them in the mouth early up front with our run game. Let's GO O-Line!

1) Looks like the best D-line PSU has seen after Ohio State. PSU will not be able to dictate the run like they have the last 2 games. They will need some scheme help. Probably a decent running day, not great, and most of the yardage in the 2nd half provided PSU isn't playing catchup.
2) PSU didn't handle Boise blitz all that well. I hope they can improve but I don't think PSU will do well in 3rd and long against this D. Quick throws are not Allar's thing.
3) Yes, PSU WRs will be open downfield but will Allar be upright for long enough to see them? A few shots to Evans makes sense if he's got single coverage.
4) You know ND will scheme for Warren and given the quality of their defensive coaching, they'll do a pretty good job. Still, he'll get his catches, and there should be openings for the other TEs and receivers to make some catches.
5) ND handled the Georgia pass rush awfully well; that's not a good sign. PSU isn't a great sacking defense. PSU will have to rely on secondary to give the D-line time to penetrate, and PSU will probably need to blitz to get pressure.
6) Nothing like Ohio State receivers but, as has been noted, very good TE.
7) No spy. They need all the help they can get in pass rush. If Carter's able to play, he'll be rushing the passer.
8) Who knows. Probably turnovers or special teams will be the difference.

#8 turnovers and special teams are how ND beat UGA. I definitely see that as the biggest factor in our game. We need to limit our TO's to 1 or 0. I've watched enough ND games to see the luck of the Irish win many games.

Penn State will beat ND and then the NC game will be..... cancelled

Pick your reason why the game will be cancelled, but it will be. It'll be like Covid knocking out our basketball team from the NCAA tourney for the first time in what seemed like forever.

It's like winning the lottery and dying the next day.
It's like rain on your wedding day.

After I watched the ND-Georgia game I concluded the ND's victory was a bit of a fluke and if the two teams played 10 times, Georgia would win about 8 of the games. I'm not saying ND is a bad team. They are much better than SMU or Boise. However, the Georgia fumble with seconds left in the first half and the kickoff return at the start of the second half won the game for ND. These were both lucky breaks for ND. I am glad we are playing ND instead of Georgia. I think we have a better chance of winning than if we played Georgia.

"It's like winning the lottery and dying the next day." Well, Waking Ned Devine is an Irish flick.

“Quick throws are not Allar’s thing”

Receivers also have to get open or get some kind of separation on quick throws.
