Nebraska

He has a lot of work to do for that program but I do think he can improve Nebraska. I don't think Nebraska can ever be more than 9 or 10 wins anymore and so I wouldn't doubt if Rhule parlays some success with Big Red a few years from now into a better opportunity elsewhere.

I could be wrong, but based on his track record, he'll probably have some success at NU like he did at Baylor and then move on to another job, and possibly another NFL job. With that said, he has proved himself to be a really good college head coach with the jobs that he did at Temple and Baylor. However, with the dissolution of divisions in the Big 10, it's going to be a longshot for them to make a Big 10 Championship game now that you have Michigan, OSU and PSU rolling.

They would hate Rhule as soon as he lost a game.

Joebots won't be happy til joes corpse is propped up on the sidelines like Weekend At Bernie's.
Franklin, like almost every head coach, isn’t perfect, but he really has put this program in a very strong position nationally. Other than making the playoffs, which I really believe will happen soon, he’s done almost everything that a realistic fan could expect; he’s won a Big 10 championship and Fiesta, Cotton and Rose Bowls, and his recruiting inroads actually seem to be getting better every year.

If you discount the joke that was the 2020 season, his overall record since 2016 is on a par with some of the other great periods in PSU history, with all of the 11 win seasons and bowl victories.

No bigger Paterno fan than me, but I am a huge Franklin fan.
Agreed on both and will add that I'm a big Rhule fan too. Why wouldn't "we" be?

He is one of "us" and appears to run his programs in the manner that he played under and we are accustomed to. James has done an excellent job on that regards too.

I'll be honest that at times some CJF calls have me going crazy, and yeah....we seem to suffer from repetitive head scratchers (always seeming unprepared after bye week is a big peeve).... but I appreciate James and am proud to have him as our coach.

If somehow James were to leave we could do a lot worse than Matt. About the only redeeming thing about sitting in The Linc during the Temple debacle was knowing that it was a career changing day for Rhule.

This is the problem--people are trying to make Franklin into Paterno 2.0. He's not.

But..but...we deserve better....
