Caveat: I admittedly know nothing or even less about the X's and O's of football. But I have an observation...

Looking at Trace's first 5 or 6 games and Clifford's first 5 or 6 games, it seems our offense is MUCH more effective when the QB ends up keeping the ball occasionally on the RPO's.

Think about Buffalo first half. Loaded the box and took the RB's out of the equation because Clifford wouldn't run.

I am convinced that Cain's success last night is partly because of Clifford making some great RPO reads and carrying the rock for some critical 1st downs.

Yes the passing stats weren't there last night (aided by 3 or 4 drops of catchable balls), but I thought Clifford managed the game well and seemed to make most of the right calls on the RPO.

Maybe it just takes a while to get a feel for this stuff. Think back to 2-2 after Michigan and "Fire Franklin" and fast forward to where we are today.

Good stuff.
