No it would not be a catch, although it should be. It used to be 'you can't use the ground to make a catch, and the ground cannot cause a fumble/non-catch' as long as you held onto it for 2 seconds and came down with control it was a catch even if it popped out when you hit the ground (and it really should go back to that as it is the same as a fumble).
