The top 3 seem to be right. After that, it seems to be a crap shoot. Who deserves to be #4 then? Nobody stands out to me. PSU has played as well as anyone ranked 5 to 10. Plus the higher PSU is ranked, they won't fall as far if they stumble, hopefully.

I agree. After Georgia and Alabama it’s a toss up. If you look at the AP poll teams 3-15 (or so) and matched up the teams it wouldn’t be a shock to see the lower ranked team pull the ‘upset’. It’s one of those years where I think most teams are pretty closely matched.

Most people put more stock in the coaches pool.....not me. Coaches will vote on what hurst a team like penn state. For example....I bet Narduzzi, Locksley, and Schiano all have Penn State ranked lower than say the guy from Arkansas, TCU, and Wyoming....

Narduzzi probably doesn't even have psu ranked.

I’d put 200 on blue and white vs the Buckeyes based on what they’ve shown on the field this year. I haven’t watched a second of UF.

Curious what you think about UGA. We know Clemson is a mediocre team and UGA barely squeaked out a 10-3 victory. You think the dawgs deserve the 2 spot with their best win being a 10-3 win over number 25?

And if the osu team that showed up against Oregon and the first half of Tulsa showed up then what? Penn state isn’t the only one with warts. Maybe osu can have another player quit at half time and tell the team it can go have intercourse with itself on Twitter.

But you don’t rank teams based on hypotheticals. It should be based on what they’ve done…QUALITY WINS….which OSU and Florida don’t have at this point. If we lose to OSU, then I’m with you, but until that happens, PSU has a better resume and the rankings should reflect that.

There is something to be said for this line of reasoning. It really only is important to be #4 in the season final playoff rankings and being ranked high barely a third of the way through the season can be a distraction.

But Franklin in his PC's stresses a more basic reality that his team just needs to prepare to beat the team they are playing each week. A very appropriate and sane approach.....
