I was never aware Erickson claimed he spoke with Corbett before signing the consent decree. Didn't the NCAA supposedly tell The Rod he had to make a decision ASAP and he wasn't allowed to consult anyone?? And if he did in fact speak with Corbett, it's apparent Corbett must have been on board with hammering Penn State. This also jives with his "remember the children" comment before the vote to fire Joe.

Was Corbett even a voting member of the bot at that point? I don't think he was.
Because Corbett wanted to call who was really in charge of the situation, not the one who is the PR figurehead.
Prolly because he knew a phone number he could use to connect with Surma. Ridge knows the same number. So does Rendell. So does the short-timer we had after Ridge left for the federal job.
Yeah...but his power allowed him to direct other votes, although they weren't his directly. As a business person in the state of PA, you really don't want to be crossing sword with a sitting gov regarding a board position you took to get good seats on Saturdays.
The likelihood that corbett called anyone on the bot to express concern about the bot's handling of the consent decree is zero.
That was the implication in the emails released where someone said that the Gov would be calling in the morning. But, who knows, he could have been calling to offer a bottle of 25 year old scotch.
