Nice game for Matt tonight for the Raiders.....

10-11 for 104 yards. 1 td, 0 picks.
This is why Matt will be one of my favorite players ever. He said what needed to be said right here:

Glad he wasn't reprimanded because it was true. I just wish I could be a 4th string walk on with nothing to lose and get close to Witvoet or O'Neil or one of their ilk with audio running and really light into them - that they are either incompetent, getting paid off like Donaghy, or biased.

McGloin was a rock during a very difficult time. Given that, how hard he worked, and how well he played, the guy is a Penn State legend.

I think McGloin, Mauti, ARob, and BOB need to be thankful for each other
and to some degree Zwinak. Take one of these players and leaders out of the equation, and not only would their season have blown up, but the upswing in recruiting would have been lessened.

McGloin continues to surprise, which at this point shouldn't be surprising. I wish he would get back to Penn State and coach Hack on the short pass.

Hackenberg will be fine. McGloin is too busy being a good NFL player to coach at Penn State.

McGloin was PSU's starter before FLO ever entered the equation. Too funny that the same posters who praise FLO in regards to McGloin are largely the same know-nothing @ssholes who critisized Paterno daily for playing talentless, walk-on "McMoxie" over Bolden! And when asked why he was starting McGloin and JVP stated because he won the job and is the best QB on our team, these same know-it-alls despite never having even coached a Little Gridders team, let alone be the winningest coach in NCAA Major College history, said that Paterno was full of $hit as usual....didn't know what he was doing......and it was ridiculous to start McGloin on a FBS team as he wasn't even a legit DII player.....blah, blah, blah. But now all the sudden, the ever brilliant FLO recognized McGloin's talent??? LMFAO at these know-nothing, think they know everything, raging jack-wagon @sshats.

MM sure as hell wasn't going to be as good under Jay. We are incredibly lucky to have Had BOB and MM.

God damn, Bushwood, it was a nice thread and damn, why ruin a really nice, inspiring thing? Is it a crime to be wrong about something and eventually see the light? I was one of them, and I got egg on my face, my problem. You're gonna give me crap over this? Can't you just let us fess up that we were wrong about the guy and cheer for him now? Dang!

Copy that!

From Oakland paper today:

No. 3 quarterback Matt McGloin was very solid in the second half, completed 10 of 11 passes for 104 yards and a 16-yard touchdown to Brice Butler. Del Rio avoided playing his cards when asked if the Raiders might mix things up to get McGloin some time with the second-team offense in the next couple of preseason games.

“We’ll see,” he said. “We’ll see. I’m not going to get into individual battles. … There’s a lot of camp left. There’s lot of preseason left to determine roles and I think we’ll just let it play out.”

"FLO?" WTF is FLO?

The dude just delivers! Period. He has his limits, but he delivers in almost every situation you put him in. I'm not a Carr fan. He looks great, but usually has a brain fart every quarter! But the Raiders are invested in him so they must make him the man. MM is a perfect back-up and teammate for a guy like Carr. He'll make a great coach, one day, too.

I love MM, but Carr is a lot better. MM will be a great backup.

Carr actually has star written on him. He was pretty solid last season and set several rookie records. MM had a chance last year when Carr got hurt in London and threw 3 picks.

MM played against a lot of Rams who won't sniff the NFL. Carr played against a pretty good Rans D and did well. He and Cooper are going to be s good tandom.

Mcgloin continues to take advantage of any opportunity he gets. He's forced himself onto an NFL roster and it'll be awfully difficult to get him out of the league. Rooting for him to get a chance to start at some point and I'm sure he's doing everything he can to be ready if that opportunity comes along. Great story and I've enjoyed following him.

I've never heard that reference to OB before. Frankly, I think it's not only insulting but also inaccurate. OB was the right coach at the right time for us. He's largely responsible for holding this program together at it's most perilous time. Perhaps his departure to Houston could have been handled better, but OB was always up-front with his players that his dream job was as an NFL head coach. The time frame between the end of a season and the LOI date is when things get crazy for all CFB teams and things happen quickly. It's never smooth when one coaching staff departs. Anybody who uses a childish, idiotic reference like this needs to look at the overall picture and grow-up.

Matt is always an injury away from starting. This is the NFL and QB's drop occasionally. I don't know the quality of Oakland's OL.

Yeah, seen it plenty of times here. Feelings are strong, we get a thread or so a month on this.

Bushwood is never wrong about anything.

It's Bushwood's coinage and be prepared for his onslaught. Shocking as it may seem, he has a strong and unswerving opinion about this. O'Brien was the right man at the right time for Penn State. He made no bones about having NFL aspirations and got a good NFL job. PSU got a replacement whose ambition was to coach the Nittany Lions. Fortunately, Coach Franklin was and is a recruiting animal and he hit the ground running on that aspect of the job. There are few who would have been able to make the transition so smoothly. Sounds good to me. I like Coach Franklin and his staff too. No need to argue about any of this.

That's how Bushwood refers to him. I don't think anyone else here uses it.

I can't look at Frank Booth without laughing. I knew a guy who did a perfect imitation of him in the scene from which your sig pic comes.

I don't remember McGloin throwing close to 4 interceptions in a game and begging to go back in the game (LSU bowl game)
While Joe may have recognized his talent, BOB elevated it, recognized others (ARob and Carter were one year away pre-BOB), and made bread-and-butter play calls, some of which seem to have been removed from the playbook, or ignored by Hack.

I was referring to his bye-week. I'm looking for whatever it takes to get Hack and/or Donovan to stop ignoring the short pass in their play calling.

MM will play in the NFL this year. He will make a roster. If Del Douche Bag doesn't want MM at number two and chooses to Ponder Boy, some one will.

Would love to MM back up Tony Romo and blow the NFL east out of the water, just for spite.

I understand why the Raiders are going with Carr... they can win with MM (9-7) but doubt they can go all the way.. whereas Carr seems to have that extra lift that might take them home. That's ok by me. At least Carr has shown he might be a bit better.

But seriously... Christian Ponder is their #2? what the hell has he accomplished and -- other than being a blown #1 draft pick -- what distinguishing features does he possess? [sure, good ht/wt and rock solid jaw :)]

Crediting Matt McGloin to FLO is ridiculous - especially by the very same people who were critical of Paterno for "starting a walk-on who wouldn't even be starting for a DII team" over their beloved highly recruited Bolden and then Jones. Too funny that these same @ssholes now want to credit FLO for seeing great talent in McGloin when the FACT IS that FLO INHERITED McGloin as a starter!!! Too funny that these same @ssholes praise FLO and credit him with identifying McGloin as a talent at QB....just LMFAO at the know-it-all Paterno-hater, FLO praisers.

It maybe beyond your grasp, but it is possible to appreciate O'Brien for what he did for the program and at the same time admire Paterno for all he did for the football program and the University. Being grateful that BOB played a key role in getting us through the worst of the sanctions and acknowledging what a great job he did in coaching up MM (to a record senior year) and Hack to a terrific freshman season is not disrespectful to Paterno. But here you are again with a childish, name calling tantrum once again that had nothing to do with the original post. Who is the @sshole?

Raiders 9-7?? With MM? Carr goes further? Are we following the same NFL? Ponder has a media wife. That's all he has.

Obviously, reading comprehension has been very elusive during your hate-filled life. One can be both an admirer of Paterno, O'Brien and Franklin. Your self-obsessive loathing of OB is juvenile and the reasons behind it are groundless. But, by all means, don't allow the facts to cloud your ongoing, clueless rants about a man who did more things to help the program than an idiotic poster such as yourself on an anonymous message board.

Not saying this year.. obviously they have to make their decision based on the long term and they clearly see Carr as having the stuff to tak them to the top more so than MM. That's (imo) their opinion... I don't necessarily agree with it, but I can understand that thinking.

It's ponder ahead of MM that is mind boggling.

Gee, would that include FLO intentionally putting the coaching staff and recruiting into a shambles at the same time he was telling Douche-bag Davey Jones that he was leaving more than a month before he left.....telling Jones not to disclose the fact until the morning after he left and to blame his departure on the "Joe-bots" rather than the real reason which was abundantly obvious - HIS OWN SELF-DEALING AVERICE....then lie to his coaching staff, players and recruits for the entire time INCLUDING LYING TO THEM WITHIN DAYS OF HIS DEPARTURE TELLING THEM HE WASN'T GOING ANYWHERE??? Yea, what a peach -- we really owe that self-dealing a-hole who not only used PSU for his 1st Head Coaching Contract EVER in his career which he immediately began to horse trade, but then attempted to use PSU's fans and program as a foil to cover for his lying ways to his own program and the real reason he left which was his own self-dealing, averice and selfishness. You and I have very different definitions of who owes who and who the clear @sshole was. BTW, attempting to give FLO credit for identifying McGloin as a "starting QB" talent capable of playing at the next level is just another example of the absurd re-creationist BS that you FLO lovers and apologists like to create. The FACT IS that FLO had nothing to do with identifying McGloin as the starting QB his Sr. year -- he inherited him as a two-year starter at QB. That's the FACTS laughable to give FLO more credit for identifying McGloin as the best talent at QB and a leader for PSU than the prior coaching staff which recruited him as a Walk-On and started him at QB in both 2010 and 2011 - just beyond amusing and typical that some idiots on here credit FLO with making McGloin when he inherited him as a multi-year starter his Sr. year (ditto A-Rob) - both were starters long before FLO ever used PSU for all he was worth both coming and going!

Crediting Matt McGloin to FLO is ridiculous

Well, let's see ............

Let's say that somebody visited BWI on January 3, 2012 (the day after the Ticket City Bowl debacle against Houston), and said "Matt McGloin will be a starting NFL quarterback, and win 2 games as a starter, all within the next 24 months."

What do you think the odds on that would have been? 1000-1? 1 Million to 1? Infinity to 1?

Yet, that happened. Want to tell me what happened in the days following 3-January-2012?

You should have someone proof read your rants, but I think what you tried to say was 1) you did not like the way in which BOB left (I happen to agree), 2) you believe he was all about getting an NFL job (also agree but have no problem with that), and 3) he inherited some good players (also true). None of that changes the fact that he played a key role in getting us through the first years of the sanctions, and had a hand in MM significant improvement from his junior to senior year (and that is not a slap at Paterno). If you communicate in adult sentences without rants and name calling you may actually make sense - try it.
