Nick Saban calls out Alabama Student Section

Saban’s a perfectionist. It’s what drives him to be so good- no small detail is overlooked and he tries to correct every error, even if Bama wins easily.

The Bama fans are spoiled rotten and they don’t know it. He’s complained about their student section before. It’ll be big news down there for a week and they’ll stay the whole next game but then revert to old habits of leaving early only for Saban to call them out again.

Maybe he should work on scheduling better non-conference match ups.
Not sure how many fans would be excited to see New Mexico St, Southern Miss and Western Carolina play.

True but, in fairness, that’s a what most P5 OOC schedules look like. After all, we’ve just had Idaho and Buffalo the past 2 weeks. ;).

Bama has scheduled OOC games against Louisville, Florida State (2 times), USC, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Virginia Tech (2 times), Michigan, Penn State (2 times), and Clemson since 2007.

Saban is also on record saying he wants P5 to play P5. It just doesn't work in terms on $.

Same thing happens at PSU, and it looked to me that as of kickoff there were plenty of seats available in the student section.

So he pretends to want to play other power schools , but the money doesn’t work? The proverbial “hold me back!” After the shit has been broken up. Eye roll.

I don't believe he's pretending. I'm sure many coaches would prefer to play real teams. Just like Penn State has to put together this pathetic schedule in ensure home games so does Alabama.

It’s not just as simple as Alabama students are leaving early. They left early because they were playing and destroying an inferior team during the middle of the day when the sun was blazing, there were no clouds in the sky, temperatures were in the upper 90s and it was humid as hell. And, the kicker this past weekend, was that the entire stadium ran out of water. People were feeling ill all over the place due to the heat and dehydration. Many, many students decided to leave rather than risk getting sick. I know this because my son goes there. And...there is a lot of chatter on the Alabama boards and parents pages saying “F Saban, my kid’s health is more important than staying for a stupid football game.” Interestingly, these are the same people who for the past several years were claiming Saban was a God.

Kids are doing things far more dangerous to their health at college than standing in 90 degree heat watching a football game.

As an SEC team, Bama has 4 OOC games. Every year, they play 3 cupcakes which is actually more than we do.

The way to judge a Power 5 team's schedule is by the number of P5 teams being played. Bama plays 9 this season in the regular season (and their "big" OOC game was against Duke LOL). PSU, by way of comparison, plays 10 such games.

There's a big difference between the SEC/ACC teams with 8 conference games and the Big 10/Pac-12/Big 12 with 9. Generally the latter three conference play tougher schedules as a result.

Are we really pulling the OOC card. The two teams we have played stink.
Wasn't pulling out the OOC card to compare the schedules. What was our attendance for the 1st two games? Less than a sell out and I am sure many left before the games ended.

People want to see good games and if they are not competitive they will either not attend or leave early. Saban or any coach shouldn't blame the fans. I am sure Bama fans aren't leaving early when they are playing LSU or Georgia and its the same with PSU when we have good teams in the stadium.

I guess you've never stood in the blazing sun on a humid, 98 degree Alabama summer afternoon without water for three + hours.

Why without water? But, yes, I have gone to games in extreme heat and cold AND yes people do far more dangerous things than that in college.

Water, either for purchase or fill-up at some water stations, was unavailable in parts of the student section. Nobody seems to know why (or, more likely, will say why).

alabama over the past decade has played way harder OOC games than we have. We should not throw stones in glass houses. I love the fact that he is calling out his student section. he is absolutely right. The fans and crowd are what separates programs like PSU and Alabama from other schools....absolute fact. Recruits want to play in front of big stadiums with big, rowdy crowds. People hate on Saban but he reminds me a lot of Joe in terms of getting crankier as he gets older.

Sorry, it’s BS for Nick to do that. These kids (or their parents) pay a lot of money to go there and they can do whatever the hell they want on the weekends. If they want to go and stay for the whole game, good for them...if they don’t, then good for them. Nick doesn’t get to decide.

You do realize that nick saban runs the place, don't you?
