I’m so glad the names are off the jerseys and I hope it stays that way forever. I understood it, but I just wasn’t comfortable with it. It’s not us. It’s not Penn State. Franklin has his finger on the pulse of this program for sure.
I totally agree. I get the feeling from the people that I've talked to that those who wanted the names off were much more passionate about it than those who wanted them on. To me it's a return to tradition and class and I will be forever grateful to Coach Franklin for his decision.I’m so glad the names are off the jerseys and I hope it stays that way forever. And that is what it's all the about.I'm 71 years old and have followed PSU since 1960 attending a ton of games. I liked the names, I like to know who makes plays without having a roster in front of me.
Oh well, I'm just glad the season is ready to begin. Names or no names, we will always be Penn State.
winks, I think you just made fairgambit's point. You like the names, but aren't really passionate about it one way or the other. Those who don't like the names are more passionate.I'm 71 years old and have followed PSU since 1960 attending a ton of games. I wish they'd remove the stripe from the helmet. The only thing left for me is grey face-masks and the numbers back on the side of the helmet. I think that would look great. And diamonds back in the end zones![]()

I don't understand the point. Do you mean I can only disagree with the decision to put names on the uniforms if I donate a large amount of money? Isn't my status as an alum, a lifetime member of the Alumni Association, and a season ticket holder of nearly 40 years enough? Isn't just being a fan enough?I wonder how many of those who were so enraged by having the names on the jerseys will be writing a $15,000 check to have their name above a player's locker.

I'm 75 and did not like the names. But as you say "we will always be Penn State"I'm 71 years old and have followed PSU since 1960 attending a ton of games. I liked the names, I like to know who makes plays without having a roster in front of me.

Would love to see the diamonds back in the end zones. Hell yeah! The only thing left for me is grey face-masks and the numbers back on the side of the helmet. I think that would look great. And diamonds back in the end zones![]()

OK. Then I misunderstood and your point is a valid one.My point was the irony that is the program where it's all about the name on the front of the jersey, the ultimate no individual is better than the rest returns to it's roots and takes the names off the jerseys while at the same time is soliciting fans to pay to have their name on a locker where the now sacred again nameless jerseys hang.
