Nolf's path to the Olympics...

Anyone know if Hall plans to get down to 74 for the trials? He’s always taken care of Nolf fairly easily.

It’s crazy how much of an underdog a 3x champ, especially one with Jason’s dominance, is going to be. Especially just one year out of college. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes and how he can compete with the top guys. I’ll bet he’s closer than a lot of people think, but IMar, Dake, Burroughs is a real high bar.

Everytime I'm in Yatesboro and see the sign up at the ballpark declaring Jason a 3 time state champ I think of his now, 3 NCAA national championships. Forget who it was here but they figured the town is just waiting to update the signage until Jason is done conquering the world. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if that sign says 3 time NCAA, World and Olympic Champion one day. He is the matrix after all ...

A lot of NCAA championships between those 4.

BOOM. Those 4 plus Richie Lewis combined for 11 NCAA titles. I know it's a Minny thing, but it seems really Goodale-ish

I get 12 titles. Imar 2, Dake 4, Burroughs 2, Nolf 3, Lewis 1. Now that is what I call a tough field.

My first reaction this was HUH? But I see I read Mekhi when the post said Richie. My bad, but still a tough field.
Mekhi will be there though and could surprise some people. I wonder if Cenzo will try to qualify.

While Dake might have a slightly more difficult path than JB, I think it will be Dake's time next year. Although tough to count out JB.

I’ve been to a couple of Olympics and the freestyle wrestling therein. How the hell can they be chopping weights off? Ludicrous. It’s a popular, well-attended sport. I hope next Olympics expands the weight classes

Yes...so disappointing to say the least. With so many crazy niche sports in the olympics it kind of surprises me that the oldest and greatest sport is being abused like this. I hate that wrestling isnt so popular here in U.S. like it is in other counties.

Nolf's path to the Olympics includes the practice time, tournaments, and trials leading up to the 2020 Olympics, and beyond. 2020 Tokyo is a long shot, but everything he does prepares him for the Olympics that are wrestled in his prime, which surely includes 2024 and 2028. Must think of this as a "process", 2020 is part of the process.

As Lyons pointed out, wrestling most likely needs to expand their gift giving to include Olympic Committee officals. One would think with all of the cash Russia gives international wrestling officials some could be thrown the IOC's way.

I get everyone's point, but also... How fun is this Olympic year going to be with all of this unpredictability? 57kg has numerous options of legitimate winners. 65kg is loaded... 74kg might be one of the most loaded weights. 86 has Taylor, Dieringer, Downey, and maybe Cox? If not, Cox-Snyder at 97kg is absolutely ridiculous. HWT has Gwiz, Gable, and others.

This shit is about to be a blast. Not a single weight that I'd bet the farm on. Not that I have a farm, but the point remains.

I'm with Crop, as many are, I'm sure. April 4-5 is a milestone weekend on the journey to the Olympics. But even before that, there's qualifier tourneys in this country just to make the Olympic Trials, and only a couple weight qualification tournaments world-wide, to earn a weight berth in Tokyo. As said in another thread, great time to be a wrestling fan.

Jason is going to gain man strength as he gets older. As much as I want him prepared for the 2020 trials I think 2024. Any opinions?

I think Bo is also going to be a factor depending where he decides to go. (86/97)
