Now Morgan Freeman.

If true I am truly bummed. Love him as an actor. First Philip Seymour Hoffman (tremendous actor) OD’s, now this. What’s next...Gary Oldman? (Another amazing actor.). :(

Morgan Freeman is 80. the first story on CNN happened in 2015, two or three years ago. That means he, allegedly, harassed the gal at age 77 or 78. At that age, if he is "active" I'd be surprised.

Hollywood must be pretty messed up. Those monster egos must think they can get away with whatever.

I bet there's a lot more we haven't and never will hear about. Is anyone surprised at all these things coming out in the last year? I'm not surprised in the slightest. And so many of them preach morality to others in the process.

Hollywood today kinda reminds me of the hard core Christian evangelicals back in the 1980s.

Kudos to CNN for actually working to seemingly confirm this, rather than just taking 1 persons word and running with it.

"In all, 16 people spoke to CNN about Freeman as part of this investigation, eight of whom said they were victims of what some called harassment and others called inappropriate behavior by Freeman. Eight said they witnessed Freeman's alleged conduct. These 16 people together described a pattern of inappropriate behavior by Freeman on set, while promoting his movies and at his production company Revelations Entertainment"

different era...what was appropriate in 1985 isn't today (watch any random episode of mad men). Lots of older guys/gals haven't been able to keep up

Or currently.

I always thought it was kind of inappropriate to try and lift up women's skirts or say to a pregnant woman "you look ripe". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't understand why people act surprised by the recent spate of sexual harassment claims. Think about it. The men being charged are usually handsome studs (not counting Weinstein!) who were probably the most popular kids in high school (think Homecoming King) and college (think Otter in Animal House). Girls were likely throwing themselves at these guys all the time they were growing up. Then they go to Hollywood and become millionaire celebrities. Even more women throw themselves at them. They are used to getting anything they want whenever they want it. They probably have developed a sexual appetite like nobody on this message board could comprehend. I'm not saying what they are accused of doing is right, but it is certainly explainable.

I've never done that kind of stuff but can tell you, in the 80's, pretty common. conversations I overheard included a woman saying she could tell what a man ate the day before by his taste....so it went both ways.

Yes, currently too, but back in the 80s, in addition to their usual hypocrisy, there was a string of high profile Revs getting caught with their pants down.

Literally in some cases.
Then their spouse would appear on camera during the service and cry and then they would pass the collection plates. Oddly enough people still gave them money.

To an extent I agree. And that also makes me wonder, what current female celebs gladly went along with the game (or even initiated it themselves) and got where they were today as a result?

The story always is "I'm a somebody now, but back when I was a nobody a powerful producer used me / tried to use me." But you know in addition there are plenty whose reality is "I'm a somebody now and the way I got to be that way is by giving sex to a producer and thus getting in the movies."

You can almost logic out that this stuff will happen because access to the roles controls who gets famous. It's not like athletics where nobody has access. There are no woulda been great football players that never got their chance. But there are likely lots of actresses that woulda been great had they gotten access to the roles.

It's a market and the supply (actresses) is much larger than the demand (roles) and thus the people that control the access (producers) have leverage.

hard driving high tech world, at the time. the images of the movie "wolf of wallstreet" come to mind. WoW was much more intense but just about every sceen in the movie brought back memories...coke parties, couples doing it in pools at biz meetings...I even had a gal who worked for me get solicited by a senior executive by someone on his staff (invited her to his hotel room for a "meeting"). I could tell you 100 stories off the top of my head....guy asked me to get him coke, guy missed an important presentation because he was in jail getting caught getting a hooter outside a stripe joint the night before.

Even hear of the playboy mansion? This stuff was daily occurrences. Check the videos of Tristan Thompson.

When I was in high school and at PSU there were certain guys (not me for sure!) who got more a$$ than a toilet seat! Girls were almost lining up to have a tryst with them. The social chairman at my frat spent more time in his locked room with a myriad of females then he spent at class! The celebrities who have been accused of wrong doing are guys like that. They have been led to believe that they can do whatever they want with whomever they want because of how they look and their charm. Then they get to Hollywood and become famous millionaires. My hunch is that they are totally confused. Hundreds of women have thrown themselves at them and they have likely bedded hundreds (maybe thousands) of women. Now they are being castigated for pulling up a dress. I'm not saying what they did is right but it is the inevitable outcome of how their lives have gone and the way women have reacted to them from the time they were young.

The last couple of years have been a challenge, thank you for understanding.

This point is so true. They are the biggest group of virtue signallers and think they are the moral high ground on so many issues,
And it turns out (like we didn’t already know), that most of them are hypocritical scumbags.

David Geffen. Big time. If it ever comes out, then it will be complete. He makes Harvey look like a peasant.
Interesting you say that...have a friend who knows someone that worked for him and he tells a lot of stories....all second hand so can't verify them. But crazy and all over the place.

Yep. The (early) 80's were buck wild. Then the Aids epidemic put a wet blanket on that fire.

What signs were people missing?

Ha! Reminds me of this guy from T.T.(Trinidad and Tobago). He was talking about how at 80 he (and most Island men) was long, strong and hard even at that age... WTF, but funny none the less.

I guess rum and heat (temperature) do that...

And even more different than the old Electric Company days

Feldman turned it into a circus, but is terrified what it would do to his career. Of course, the irony that he cannot see is that his career has been over for quite a long time. It's fairly well known around Hollywood that Geffen has been the monster to end all monsters, for a long long time. But if you think Harvey had power, he's a pawn compared to Geffen.

Geffen is the one who abused Corey Feldman, also.

And supposedly, James Franco which may explain(not excuse) his abusive behavior.

The rumors of Freeman taking advantage of women have been around for a long time. Also, there's the rumor of him banging his step granddaughter.
