  • I felt we were out coached. In particular, that call to run a fake punt near the end of the first half was really bad. And, if you are going to snap a ball to someone other than the punter, why not have someone like Koa Farmer run it instead of a slower bigger guy? Trust me, I am not one of those guys that would have praised Franklin if by some miracle the play would have worked. Franklin took away an opportunity for this team to win.
  • Our defense played well. But, the offside early in the first half hurt our momentum. My only point at bringing something like this up is that, it wasn't Georgia's scheme, players or coaching that put us in a bad position; we put ourselves in a bad position.
  • Godwin is a stud. Aside from maybe Robinson, I don't know of another PSU WR that is as strong as he is in carrying defenders after a catch.
  • We dont have to worry about Rahne getting picked up as an OC any time soon. I am fuming that PSU didn't run more play action with Barkley and throwing it to someone else. We simply do not have the OL to assert our will on defenders. Especially a good defending team keying on our major running weapon.
  • We have some talented WRs.
  • I was impressed that the team DID NOT QUIT! That is important. Real important.
  • I love Hack and am happy he came here. I wish him well in the future. But, man was McSorely refreshing to watch. Don't get me wrong, Hack was not at his worst this game. He threw a ball left handed (instead of taking a sack) and ran a few times (instead of taking a sack). But, McSorely made the right decisions every time and showed the instincts of a veteran QB.
  • Our OL was decent in pass protection. You have to factor that this was a very good defense they played.
  • Haley played better and looked good again.
  • I saved McSorely for last (sort of) because I like to end on a positive note. Boy oh boy did he ever show major cajones coming into the game late! I saw:
  • LEADERSHIP: Did you see him slapping hands down the bench rallying his teammates
  • POISE: He came into the game under the worst possible conditions and never rattled
  • ACCURACY: The book on him was that he was very accurate. He doesn't have great down field arm strength, but he does get it out quickly and accurately. He really threaded the needle like a good veteran QB.
  • POCKET PRESENCE: He made the right decision just about every time. He may not have been successful, but that's OK. In other words, he may have only picked up a few yards running, but it was better than taking a sack.
  • McSorely showed why he led his team to multiple state championships. He doesn't have all of the physical tools you want in a QB, but he sure seems to have everything else.
