Official Harbaugh overated-must go article thread

Jeebus, that's brutal

That article is brutal and accurate. But to focus solely on that faceless offense is not fair. That defense was manhandled yesterday. For all the talk of Don Brown as some kind of defensive mastermind, I’ve seen his defense get completely torn apart enough times with seemingly little adjustment to believe that he is every bit as overrated as that program is as a whole.

I am neither a mental health pro, nor a human development pro. But Jimmy's thousand yard stare and apparent inability to communicate in a way that reaches out to others fairly shouts, "lack of empathy."

His sideline antics, including his self pitying assholery when a call goes against him, marks him as some combo of Asperger's and narcissistic disorder.

  • Those who don't learn from history, as the old adage says, are doomed to bet on Michigan at Camp Randall. At least, that's how we think the adage goes. In any case, Michigan is now 0-6 against the number in Madison since 2000. Overall, the Wolverines are 2-10-1 against the spread in their past 13 games against Wisconsin. Michigan also is 0-7 SU and 2-5 ATS as an underdog under head coach Jim Harbaugh.--- ESPN

Brown was given too much credit in people thinking Michigan would have a great D again. They lost a lot of talent of their D last year, unrealistic to think their D would be anywhere near what it was last year. Throw in a dysfunctional offense and yesterday happens.

Is anybody surprised about their offense? Did anyone believe Gattis would have complete control? At least Gattis got paid, in a few years he will be a receivers coach again.

Michigan definitely does not have an identify on offense, of course the same could be said about PSU right now too. But at least we score more than 14 points.

I honestly can’t believe they have only been an underdog 7 times during Harbaughs tenure

My take is that Harbaugh prioritizes recruiting over development and other aspects of running a program. Hence the hiring of Gattis who is an excellent recruiter but a high risk as an offensive recruiter. I wouldn't be surprised if the next step is for Harbaugh to take over the play calling. Not sure what else he could do to deal with the issues at this point in the season.

Probably over-reaction to a bad loss. You know the old saying " You're never as bad as you think you are when you lose or as good as you think you are when you win." Remember, a couple weeks ago when Maryland beat what was supposed to be a good Syracuse team by about 50 and then turned around and lost to Temple the next week.

I'm not sure it is an over reaction though. Jimmah hasn't won a big game, outside of us, last year, ( don't think the 2016 win was a big game for them). They point and laugh at Franklin's 4 and something record (even though many of those losses were from the illegal sanctions) but Jimmah hasn't even won 3 big games. They've stunk up their bowl games.
No I think the over reaction is warranted.

It's almost unfair to Brown in a way. It's the incessant, never-ending references to his name during telecasts that causes fans of other teams to really dislike him. "That's a Don Brown defense. Look at the adjustments Don Brown made to his Don Brown defense. You can't do that against a Don Brown defense." It's just over the top. Can't say I remember that with other DCs. Maybe it's because he has such simple name, who knows. But boy oh boy is it annoying. And boy oh boy is it nice seeing that Don Brown defense get eviscerated.

They do it with Bud Foster as well.

Brown was indeed given too much credit for what he could do with this defense because the talent that he lost from last year’s defense got manhandled by Florida and Ohio State last year. No reason to expect a less seasoned defense would fair better against a Wisconsin.

Listening to ESPNU radio today, they had an interesting point. Harbaugh has a reputation for a QB whisperer from his coaching at Stanford and the 49ers. The host pointed out that Greg Roman was Harbaugh's OC at both places and did not go to Michigan. Greg Roman is now the OC of the Ravens who have a very diverse offense. Quite possibly with Harbaugh's success, the wrong guy got the credit.
