I would be curious to see conversion % running Trace in 2nd or 3rd and shorts this year. Has to be pretty low.

It's really a very breezy day here in Chicagoland. Most wind we've had in the last month.
Our OC just doesn't seem to have a clue on short yardage. Our OL is managing the game well. No pressure. Knocking people off the line. 3rd and 1 we run that play.

I remember a couple weeks back where it was reported that Trace wanted to be a bigger part of the run game this year. I cringed.
I'm shocked at how bad of a runner McSorley actually is: no power, no wiggle, no acceleration.
I am hoping that 3 and 1will be the learning lesson for the staff and players and that’s it no more...lets see.
They called Trace's a fumble against Iowa so this should be too.
Big part of the 3rd/short problem is that the defense doesn't have to account for McSorley at all. They just crash the line keying on Barkley and with the xtra time it takes getting to the LOS from the shotgun, the advantage goes to the defense. We're going to have to spread it out and think pass first.
80 degrees and humid ....how much longer before our defense starts feeling the effect of being on the field much?
