After the shock yesterday (USC and UCLA), I wouldn't rule out any future scenarios. Man, the conference, USC, and UCLA did a super job of keeping everything quiet until it broke - all within a day
Yeah, I guess. I just think if you have 20+ teams you should play 12 conference games.

Agreed that is the ideal scenario for the Big Ten...thinking maybe long term of going to 24 with UNC, UVA, GT and Miami????
Stanford and Cal are compared in football attendance to Minnesota and Rutgers respectively.
I don’t think you’re necessarily wrong, but I also don’t think you can look at Stanford as a single entity in terms of expansion. I’d view them more as a package deal to entice Notre Dame to join the Big Ten.

Get Cal and Stanford for academics. Stanford decent in football.
Not sure who could do that besides ND who is left on the board. I guess they could go after Clemson and FSU. but they will want the SEC in my opinion.
I would love to play Pitt every year and rekindle that rivalry but I am old school in that regard.
I question whether there would be political pressure on the teams that have an in state competitor to not go it alone. I am referring to Oregon, Washington, Kansas, etc. I do realize that Oklahoma and Texas did ditch their in state schools.
Virginia would be surprising. However, I think it’d be pretty funny if Miami throws all that money at football and their recruiting class just to get left out like the rest of us!

That’s why I think the SEC would be wise to invite Miami as well. Although there’d be a lot of overlap with territory they already control, it would prevent the Big Ten from making inroads into the southeastern region.
I hate Notre Dame more than any program or team in sports. Absolutely hate them. That said, the second they agree to join we take them immediately and don't ask a single question. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yes would love to get UVA, Va Tech, Duke and UNC. Miami would be nice as well. Can we get rid of Rutgers and while we are at it Nebraska?
Nebraska is going nowhere. Miami will get stronger under Cristobal. Miami has Florida to recruit great talent, Nebraska has nothing.
I still wouldn't drop Nebraska. And honestly, if the Big Ten did drop someone Nebraska is probably the least likely after Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State.
Yeah, I look at Nebraska being historically a much stronger brand than Miami. If anything, the addition of two California schools will perhaps reopen that recruiting pipeline Nebraska used to have out west.
I see Nebraska as adding very little to the conference. Probably the weakest academically or certainly bottom 2 or 3. Lousy hoops, declining football. No major TV market near them. What they do have is a rabid football fanbase so I guess that is okay for bowl game travel. Good women's VB so they got that. Not sure if they are a good TV draw for football at this point, I doubt it. No California kid wants to attend Nebraska these days. None of them were alive when Nebraska was a power.
