Ohio State football program instructs players to get consent on record for rape cases

it is kind of crazy right now. I don't blame players from getting some kind of recorded consent. with the kind of money that is thrown around the accusation is as punishing as being found guilty.

We are starting to see more and more men fighting these claims and winning. Sad for legit victims because they are no longer automatically believed. I see Michael Irvin was pulled from super bowl coverage

Um, I'll play along. In a world in which "all women are to be believed" as Senator Hirono once famously said and considering the multitude of life altering problems for offenders and victims, is this really bad advice from the coaches? "If you are going to have sexual relations with a woman, you better be sure she consents or your life is over." Ive heard of a company that has an app these days where men can hand their phone to a woman and ask her to preselect what she will/will not consent to on a particular dalliance. Maybe I'm missing something. Are people outraged that adults would tell other adults to provably consent to something?

You are missing the fact that the girl is crying on tape as she is being asked to give consent. Anyone who would give consent probably does not need to be taped.

They made her an offer she could not refuse.

In the big picture it won’t matter. Any lawyer will just have their client say they originally gave consent but then changed their mind later and said no making the original consent invalid.

it would still be a highly valuable piece of evidence in any rape accusation case. You dont think OSU asked their own counsel when giving out such a suggestion? This is the school that brought you tattoo-gate and, “we ain’t here for no school”. 🤣

regardless of the tape, how could you prove she gave consent? Any woman who was alone with a wealthy man can make any claim they want. The damage is done regardless if they have zero evidence.

you should see the training NBA players get. Go to any game and watch where the players leave the locker room. It looks like a nightclub with women trying to catch the eye of a young man making several million a year. They teach the players to wear a condom and throw it away yourself. They tell the story of a player who leaves his lover to use the restroom to find her trying to suck his sperm up with a turkey baster and inseminate herself. I mean, it is CRAZY out there.

I see now, thanks for explaining. Originally I did not understand the uproar in the coaches asking the players to get provable consent BEFORE engaging in sexual activity with a woman....I did not realize this was after

LOL. Buckeyes live in your head.
So when presented with the fact that the Buckeye staff told 2 players after they were accused of rape to get a consent on record, they did with the girl crying and distraught, and your reaction is "LOL. Buckeyes live in your head."? Try putting being a decent human being ahead of your fandom for a minute.

Exactly

Seems like the coaches asked the players get provable consent before, and these plays tried to get it after when they realized they f-ed up big. I don’t think the coaches can be blamed for this.

I haven't seen evidence of that. I have only seen 2 facts reported. That the players extorted consent from a distraught girl crying on tape and that the players were told to get the consent from their coaching staff. Can you show us where it has been reported that the instruction from the staff came before the rape was purported to have occurred?

The other side just seems implausible:

Player: Coach, I think I raped a girl

Coach: track her down immediately and force her to give you recorded consent.

I doubt a player is going to tell his coach when he feels he committed an act of rape. What appears to have happened here is a couple of morons were unsuccessfully trying to cover their butts.

Or:

Officer or Campus Official: Coach, a girl made an accusation of rape today against 2 of your players.

Coach: Guys, if you want to play again, you d@#$ well better get this girl to give consent on record.

I am not going to assume either scenario because we don't have any further information than the players were accused of rape, the coaches had advised them to get consent, and the players obtained consent on tape with the girl crying. We don't know anything beyond this.

There is no question that it is extremely concerning, the only question is the degree of extremely concerning. If I am a parent of a recruit or current player, I have a lot of questions about who would be advising and molding my son at Ohio State.

True. Sad but true. Still s good policy for everyone in 2023 which is even more sad.

Are you naive enough to think they won't be having sex or naive enough to believe this isn't being done to protect the players from women going after their NIL money?

Sure, anything is possible, but I have a hard time believing any coach would be stupid enough to tell his players to confront their accusers after an accusation of the rape.

The way the coaches advice is framed, “always make sure you get it on record that whatever you do is consensual”, seems to imply that it was directed generally to all the players and not just to this particular incident.

In fact, requiring a record of consent is exactly what feminists are pushing for on many college campuses.

It's also very possible that after being notified of alleged rape, that the coaching staff may have addressed the whole team. With or without the accused present, the advice is going to make it back to them. We don't have all of the details. As a parent of a kid entrusted to this staff, I'd have a lot of questions.

Unless it happened at Penn State

I guess if they were acquitted there weren’t any rapes, huh?
I guess everyone ever acquitted of crimes didn't commit them, huh? Our legal system is flawless?

We don't know for sure if the Ohio St players committed rape. But we do know for certain that the Ohio St players were told to get consent on record and they have a recording of a distraught female accuser on tape crying when giving that consent statement.

That’s right. Jury got it wrong. I guess you were on the panel and heard all the evidence. We also know they were acquitted but I guess you know better.

You have some terrible reading comprehension. Try rereading my post. I make no such claim. I'll repost right below so that you cannot try to dishonestly change it. If I did this to you I would be claiming that you said that you support rape for the benefit of your football team. But I don't do that.

Speaking of dumb, why would a buckeye come here and respond to a month old thread that they had to dig out just to call someone dumb when it brings the topic of accused Buckeye rapists up again?
But he's right and you're wrong regardless of who he roots for
