combined. Why? Don't bother to answer with stupid remarks. Thanks. Happy New Year.

Why are the Buckeyes the BEST football team in the state of Ohio, the Bengals and Browns included?

Easy- the Buckeyes don't have a salary cap.
I knew some one stupid would answer. You are the first of many.

There's a certain amount of star augmentation for premier teams.

The recruiting services don't go and measure these players individually. They base a lot of their information on the schools that recruit a player.

If OSU is making an offer to a player he is not a 2 star. They will automatically assign him a three or higher.

PSU suffered from this years back in our 2000 class.

I really feel it is because players want to play in the final 4 and feel Ohio State, Clemson, and Alabama offer the best chance.

So why was OSU dominating in recruiting before the CFP was even around?

I'm reasonably confident Ohio State does not have as many 4* as the rest of the Big Ten.

Now, as many 5*? Perhaps. But don't we have like ~50 4* kids on our roster alone? I imagine Michigan has 30-40 as well.

They do. But you are asking about five stars.

Five stars are driven by talent and clicks. Both. Not just one.

I wonder if CFB is going to go the way of CBB, where teams loaded with top talent often underperform against more experienced teams in championship situations ?

I don’t think so...football is more of a physical game and the better athletes usually prevail. Basketball is more mental and maturity helps more in basketball than football.

Urban Meyer. He recruited extremely well nationally and locked down Ohio. Tressel on the other hand was mostly a regional recruiter, nowhere near as much a national recruiter as Urban. Cooper, although successful as a national recruiter, let some good ones slip away in Ohio (e.g. Kijana, Hartings and many others to UM). Now, can Ryan Day sustain what has been handed to him? We’ll see

You post this then lecture about stupid remarks. I bet you you don't even pick up on it. Classic.

I think because the players knew if they went to OSU they would go to the Rose Bowl or play in the championship game.
That doesn’t explain all of it. Let’s face it, people can call it sour grapes or jealousy, but the top dog schools are likely doing some things that the other schools aren’t or won’t do. Otherwise, with the limited scholarships, the massive TV coverage, and everything else that’s equal at most schools there would be more parity.

it is pretty crazy, I was looking at a major site's mock draft and 18 of the 32 listed in the first round were from the 4 playoff teams and Alabama

no wonder its hard to break into the elite club

OSU is more glamorous, as things stand. Good shot at playing in playoff. Know that school will do everything to promote and hype you in the media - 2 Heisman candidates, including making one out to be the greatest D player of all time even though he didn’t seem to be anything but really good.
