Just saw a Dr and Associate Professor at NYU interviewed about the pandemic. She stated that now that we have vaccines against the virus it is trying to figure out a way around the vaccines and that is why it is mutating.

Viruses don’t think, or plot, or plan, or.....anything. Viruses are not even considered to be alive. They don’t exhibit any signs or prerequisites of life. Don’t move. Don’t ingest or excrete. In fact they show zero biological activity. If you put viruses in Petri dish or any type of culture medium they just sit there.....forever.
A virus is a lump of either RNA or DNA wrapped in some type of sheet of protein and/or fat and/or sugars..... That clump just exists and does nothing until it is ingested by some living host. Then the cells of that host incorporate the RNA/DNA into its cellar functions. That RNA/DNA then becomes directions for the host cell to make more viruses. That’s it. Sorta like a piece of software that infects your computer to spread itself around the internet.
What really happens is that there are errors made during the replication process in the host cell. They are called mutations. And such mutations are 100% totally random. But when one infected person makes a few billion of these viruses a couple mutate into something that is a little different. And that difference could be just enough that the immune system stimulated by the vaccines no longer recognizes the new virus and so no longer works. And when a billion people are infected, each one making billions of replicas, some mutations are inevitable.
No thought. No plan. No intent. No strategy. Just our pure random rotten luck.
