OSU’s left tackle

Hearing he might be out for the season.

Fire LJ.
That's Josh Simmons. OFFENSIVE left tackle. Suffered a knee injury during the Oregon game. Losing him for the remainder of the season was apparent before that game was over. Has nothing to do with LJ although he is on very thin ice for other reasons.

Maybe it's time for Larry to pull the plug and retire.
When the NCAA changed the rule this year and removed the limit on the number of coaches the hope had been that OSU would hire an "heir apparent" to LJ and he would retire at the end of this season. Their has been a well known case of him and Jim Knowles butting heads ever since Knowles was hired and it's caused Knowles to to not be able to run his full scheme. The scuttlebutt is that there was a "come to Jesus" meeting the day after the Oregon game and changes will happen.
Everyone knows what LJ has accomplished in his career both at PSU and OSU. Giving him the benefit of the doubt for a year was not an issue and deserved, but development and recruiting on the D line has been an issue for several years now. While Bosas and Chase Youngs don't grow on trees, seeing guys like JT and Jack Sawyer not reach their potential is a problem. It seems the game may have passed him by. Love the guy, but it seems it's time to move in another direction.

thanks, gmen
Now that you mention the situation, I do recall some language in an article concerning Larry.
