I will be travelling to Montgomery, AL (first time) and wanted to get the board's recommendation for the best BBQ in Montgomery (or anywhere along I-85 between there and Atlanta).

Trip Advisor has some delicious looking possibilities, but the BWI/McAndrew Board never fails.

Country's Barbeque. Lived in Montgonery for 4 years in the mid 90s and go back every so many years and always make it a point to go to Country's. Confession, at the time I lived there I wasn't a huge barbeque guy (love it now) so I didn't frequent a ton of barbeque places. But Country's was one I went to then and have been back as recently as this past summer and it was very good.

I travel that way frequently and to each his own. Mike and Ed’s in the Auburn area is a quality clean joint

Pretty awesome ribs in Monthomery Fatman’s Smokehouse. Food is reasonably priced too.

Now there's a name from the past, never ate at the Country's in Montgomery but I used to go to the one in Columbus GA many times when I lived there in the early 80's. It was excellent back then, especially the BBQ chicken.

Live relatively near Montgomery, so pretty familiar. IMHO, Country's not what it once was. Especially not as good as it was in 90's. That doesn't mean it is bad though.

Depending on what you are lookin for, my suggestion would be the Dreamland location downtown across from the Biscuits' stadium. Make sure you get the banana pudding too.

Fatman's and K&J are good suggestions as well.

Jim and Nicks BBQ is fairly good, although I would go a few miles up the road to the Prattville location.

Also a lot of buzz around the new Full Moon BBQ located in Eastchase. Have not tried it, so cannot speak to the quality of the food. Building looks a little "fast foodish" to me though.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I’m looking forward to having some legit Alabama white sauce and BBQ ribs (although not together).
