Heading south from Harrisburg on Wednesday. Has the government shutdown had any favorable impact on traffic?

Last year we went to Leesburg before cutting back to 95 but there was still a lot of traffic until we got past Fredericksburg. Does it make more sense to stay west the whole way to Winchester before cutting back? Probably going through that area about 2:30 pm. What time does rush hour really back things up?

Too early to tell given holiday quiets stuff as it is. Just take your chances on 15/270.

This past week the traffic was light but was definitely impacted by the holiday. I never take 395 due to traffic volume but did Wed-Fri and it was great. However I do expect light traffic to continue until the Govt goes back to work. Less than usual but more than Wed-Fri. We'll see.

If you are coming south in the afternoon you don’t want Leesburg. That just puts you into Dulles corridor traffic.
