Agree re some calls I saw over the last couple of weeks. Bad Umpping.I've frozen the screen on multiple pitches that are WAAAAYYYYY outside (in the opposite batter's box from overhead view!) that have been called strikes, and I don't think some of these umps understand where 'the letters' are.
Only watched a bit so not disagreeing. Having ump’d a couple years as a teenager, I can tell you little league catchers make it tough. They’re too far back, they don’t present a great target, they’re squirmy. Even true of many good ones at that age. TIFWIW.I've frozen the screen on multiple pitches that are WAAAAYYYYY outside (in the opposite batter's box from overhead view!) that have been called strikes, and I don't think some of these umps understand where 'the letters' are.

For me: one of my good Michigan friends has a grand son who plays for the Texas/ Pearland team. Thought I'd pop on by and root them on.
Best to all the youngsters.👍

Isn't that why they are working little league games?I've frozen the screen on multiple pitches that are WAAAAYYYYY outside (in the opposite batter's box from overhead view!) that have been called strikes, and I don't think some of these umps understand where 'the letters' are.
How dare you all! Don't you know they are volunteers and should NEVER be questioned on anything!!! The whole Little League is a joke. 12 and 13 year olds pitching from 46 feet??? It is a complete joke.
Thanks.Enjoy your stay here...if you need any recommendations let me know. Where from in SoCal?

Check out some of the Local Restaurants of you can. Believe it or not many aren't busy this week because the locals stay away. South Side Restaurant and Pizza isn't too far from Stadium. The owner is a big PSU fan!
if you follow twitter here is a very good follow:

Thanks for info/explanation.For the most part they are pretty good. You need to remember that from 46' a ball can cross the front corner and end up 6+" off the plate when it reaches the catcher. Also, LL catchers are typically further back from the plate than MLB catchers and this can also skew you perception. MLB catchers want to be as close to the plate as they possibly can to aid in framing pitches on the corners.
If you like that, visit ‘fan graphs’ and pitching ninja. Pitching ninja make you wonder how anyone can get a hit todayWow and cool re the umping stats.
Am Not a real baseball fan.
Still, cool that today's hi tech world can produce such an umping "consistency factor for an umpire.
Thanks
