OT: I’m gonna lose 25 pounds by June.

good luck. Treat it with the same discipline you do mathematics, and you should be able to accomplish your goal. Eat less, eat smarter, and eliminate snacks between meals and especially after dinner. Combine all of that with more aerobic workouts. Again, best of luck

SO many ways to do it. It really is simple math. More calories out than in. Time restricted eating, more exercise, switching bad foods for good foods (instead of a snickers, eat a good apple with some peanut butter), cutting any sugary drink and forcing yourself to drink water instead....

Not to overly trivialize your “resolution” but it’s so freaking simple..... just gotta figure out what needs to be done, then have the dedication (stubbornness) to freaking do it. No one likes waking up early for work, but those of us that are still working do it because we have to. It’s that same kind of mentality. Just freaking do it. As Yoda says.... “do or do not. There is no try”

Losing weight is a simple but not easy task . Our bodies are designed to store fat . It might be a little tougher retiring . It should be easier to burn cals , but a lot more intake opportunities. You definitely have an opportunity to create a whole new routine . New habits take about 66 days to ingrain . Good luck with your retirement journey .

There, I said it and can use it for motivation. Apologies for the self-indulgent post.
Good luck. I went from 205 to 165 during 2018. I used the low carb diet. It works miraculously if you stick to it. My knee pain went away. I could walk miles without straining at all. I could cut grass all day long. I felt great.

Here is the secret to success and it isn't easy to implement. You have to decide that you are no longer going to get enjoyment and satisfaction from eating. You need to decide that losing weight is more important than self-indulgence. All food (pizza, pasta, bread, candy, chips, beer, ice cream, etc., etc,) that provides enjoyment is off limits. You need to go cold turkey otherwise you will slip up and fail. That is the only way to make it work. If you don't go into your diet with that spartan attitude then you are wasting your time.

I dropped 40 pounds in the first three months of 2020. Haven’t weighed myself since, but I’ve definitely put some but not all back. Quarantine got boring without beer.
I’m back on the “in shape” wagon though so I hope to be in a shape other than round by March.
Good luck to you Jim. It’s really just a mindset.

It’s understandable to set a goal, but as many have said here, it’s about changes. Stay determined on diet and exercise and the weight loss will come. Don’t get enamored with (although that’s who you are 😃) the numbers. Walk 30 minutes a day if you can.
Best wishes.

66 is an obviously made up number lol

As long as no before or after pics of LJ gardening , I’m okay with your declaration .
Gardening? I don’t do no freaking gardening.

Just got off a scale, 223 fully clothed. I had expected to be at 230. I got a gut. It’s now or never. It’s a family thing to gift fancy chocolates. (My wife’s influence. I don’t garden and I don’t buy chocolate.) I just threw out a 3/4-full box of the best chocolate-covered cherries, my favorite.

I have a wife and 4 daughters who all like to make cookies during Christmas season. Usually a fair amount of them get taken to other families, taken to parties, sent in to teachers a gifts, etc..... Alas, this year there was none of that so i pretty strong them all. Ready to try healthier eating again.

There is a simple way to lose weight. Find a hot woman who runs at a moderate pace and try to keep up. 😊

CCC = @13 grams of sugar for each. I know this because I indulge every Christmas season.

4 years ago I had one coronary artery cleaned out and 2 stents put in. I am in my 60’s. My cholesterol was not high. In addition to cardio I changed my diet. Gone are cheese curls, cream filled donuts, hot dogs, and beer. In their place is sautéd spinach, grilled fish, fresh fruit and Pinot noir. I have dropped from 225 to 189. My target is 184. You can do it, create habits that just don’t knock it off, but keep it off. Good luck. One poster mentioned Noom and people I know who subscribe have had real results. It’s all about what goes in your grocery bag every week.

I lost 27# (209 to 182) one winter without a drastic diet. I cut back portions, eating until satisfied instead of full, about 2/3 of what I used to eat. Only sweets were two York peppermint patties in evening. Walked 3 times a day for a total of 9 miles/day. Helped that I was in Florida.
Good luck

I gotta get into the regular protein shake regime. If I skip the shake, I’ll eat carelessly. That’s one thing. No food after dinner until 6am, that’s another.
