Please recommend a good movie or two to watch.

I’d really appreciate it.

Thankyou

six of one, half dozen of the other. if you use Amazon and are a prime member, you may already have it. Go to amazon prime video and try to log in with your amazon usercode/password. Amazon has some good content like Ozark series and Bird Box movie. Amazon has Jack Ryan (based on the Tom Clancy books). Amazon also gets a lot of HBO content so Veep and Curb Your Enthusiasm is there. Movies on either are catch as catch can. It just depends on the title you want to watch and how they are aligned with various streaming services.

Good luck on the shoulder...I've always heard shoulder surgeries are, for some reason, painful.

Brown has your answer, that said, tell us about your shoulder. What is the expected outcome?
what will you be able to do? Golf? Lift? swim? TIA my days are coming I fear.

I'm 5 months out from left shoulder mini-open and arthroscopic repair of 3 complete tears, and the roof reconstruction. First few months are tough. Keep up with the PT and you'll get there.
Netflix - Extraction is pretty good, John Wick like. Ozark. Narcos and Narcos Mexico
Amazon- Hunters .

Netflix....in 10 years when the Amazon shows are more than 1 or 2 seasons that might change....nothing worse than finishing a show to find out it is 1 season on the app.

59 years old - thought it was a tear. MRI said severe arthritis.

2 days after. Sling most of the time. All I’m doing is wiggle my fingers and wrist. When I take off the sling I do elephant trunks twice a day.

Right shoulder and I’m right handed.

Pain pump is still in. One more day.

If I had to choose only one, I'd go Netflix. Granted, they're moving more and more away studio content and just their own original stuff, but there's still a ton of great stuff there.

Just a few:
Netflix originals: The Irishman, Stranger Things, House of Cards, Peaky Blinders, Spy, Godless, Glow, tons of stand-up, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Narcos, Arrested Development (partially original), Witcher, Ozark
Series: Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Community, Ken Burns Vietnam, Halt and Catch Fire, Cheers, The Office, Parks and Rec, West Wing
Movies: The Score, The Master, Hateful Eight, The Pianist, Monty Python Holy Grail, Her, There Will Be Blood, The Social Network, Road to Perdition, Taxi Driver, Drive, Silver Linings Playbook, Inception, Dallas Buyers Club, King's Speech, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Without going through my Amazon list, it's nowhere near as extensive. I'd probably actually go Hulu before Amazon.

Had the ice machine, that thing worked wonders. It's amazing how much skeletal muscle atrophies in a few weeks. I never had much pain. Make sure you're taking some fiber supplement. Mentally the post-op course is a bear. Best of Luck. I will be golfing this weekend. Not well , but golfing, and that might have been the case prior to the surgery.
just asking here, you've had the surgery? post surgery what can and what can't you do prior to surgery

Just depends on what you like. Each of the services has tons of great stuff to watch.

Prime is a given in our household because we rely on Amazon delivery.

Beyond that, I subscribe to Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Disney and Starzwhen there are things we want to watch, and cancel when we're not watching them.

Lately Hulu has been my overall favorite. Huge collection of great TV shows & terrific originals and a pretty good movie collection.
The only way to do Hulu BTW is to pay the extra $ to get commercial-free Hulu -- about $14 a month.

Well, I’m just two days post surgery. I can’t do much. I’m supposed to stay in the sling and keep the shoulder as still as possible.

Finger and wrist exercises and then twice a day take the sling off and let the arm hand and roach it back and forth with my body.

About 12 years ago I had the labrum reattached on this shoulder. That pain was much worse. This is bearable so far.

So it’s right shoulder and I’m right handed so it’s hard. I have a nice recliner and I’m spender all my time in that.

No driving till next week, this is last day for pain pump. No shower till tomorrow.

I had a 3 year degradation of strength and range of motion with increasing pain. Eventually it hurt really bad to hold my elbow out to my side, 90 degrees to my torso. Strength started to degrade. I started to have visible muscle atrophy of the deltoid, pec, and bicep. I also had a full thickness tear of the long head of the bicep tendon. After speaking with the surgeon, we elected not to repair the bicep tear.
At 5 months out, I have a better range of motion, and better strength. In the compromised position of the elbow away from the body, I have improved, but not returned to normal strength and endurance. I can do a moderate strength training routine, 60% of my pre-injury numbers on weights. I could do at least 30 push ups in a row prior to surgery, strains it too much to do one now. Can do 12 with moderate ease at 30 degree incline. Can now take some items out of the mid and upper frig shelves without a problem. I can sleep better, although still some impairment at times. It seems like a year for most people to get back to "normal".
I wouldn't recommend doing the surgery unless you are a younger person and or an athlete or unless you have a pretty high level of impairment. Over age 65, results get a little more dicey. IIRC something like 60% of MRI's on people over 60 show rotator cuff tears. Many are never even symptomatic.
thanks for the info. I don't have a tear, just bone on bone in the shoulder. It is what it is. you are correct putting my arm over my head is tough. Relative to lifting, I've gone the Jay Leno school, no pain, no pain!! I do miss that part though. I don't know what happens next, right now I can live with the pain, it has not effected too much what I like to do. The one thing that hurts the most is polishing a car or a boat. Since I hate doing that anyway, I just won't do it as much!!!

We have both and as a family we watch Netflix programming 90% of the time. Amazing shows to binge they your pain. Get well soon.

to me Prime is a throw away, it is basically free. You buy Amazon Prime for the free and quicker delivery time for your 'stuff', the other stuff is icing on the cake.

Damn good content though, Bosch, Jack Ryan, Hunters, Goliath etc..

I disagree. I get Hulu for free with my Spotify Premium subscription. Granted, it's the version that has commercials but the commercials are fine. In fact, movies don't have commercials; it's only the TV shows. I don't think the ~$9 price difference (or in my case $14 since it's free) is worth the upgrade.

That being said, I like Hulu a lot. HBO is amazing, of course. As far as Netflix, it's got some great originals. But unless there's a new season of that show that's just came out, I never find myself saying I got my money's worth out of my Netflix subscription. May is shaping up to be a good Netflix month, though. New comedy specials from Jerry Seinfeld and Patton Oswalt. Plus Ace Ventura hit the platform today. Steve Carrell and Kumail Ali Nanjiani have original projects coming out at the end of the month, too.

What shows do you like on Hulu? I enjoyed The Glades and Chance, but really haven't watched it in a long time..

I like Goliath

Seasons 1 and 2 felt like the writers mailed it in after the 8th episode. Season 3 was good end to end. Season 4 is the final season, hopefully another good one.

Goliath and Bosch are similar. Acting isn't top tier, plots are a bit campy, but they're entertaining and don't require your full attention every episode to follow along.

That's funny because I liked seasons 1 & 2 but thought season 3 was strange. Especially the part about losing their minds on peyote.

Just started The Last Kingdom on Netflix. Enjoyed the first season. Better than I thought it would be.

When is season 4

For the people with shoulder injuries and pain, try hanging from a pull-up bar everyday. Work your way up to hanging for 30 to 60 seconds for a total of 2 to 5 minutes a day. It has eliminated significant pain in both my shoulders, has helped brother and nephew too.

Recommended by Dr John Kirsh, orthopedic surgeon and plenty of S&C and PTs.
