I was thinking Mickey's.
Was Mickey's "malt liquor"? I'm from Michigan (but I don't like and have never met michnittlion...and hope never to do so), and was introduced to some interesting, mysterious brews as I ventured East.....

I discovered a fondness for Gennesee 12 Horse Ale along with Yuengling, but I never understood the purpose of Mickeys. The little green glass bottles were unique, however.

* Red, White, & Blue - just really, really bad
* Mickey's Malt Liquor - More of an aftertaste than Robitussin.
* Iron City - 1/2 keg ruined a tailgate - everyone was in the port-o-lets the whole time

we always referred to that beer as "Red White & Blew Chunks"

Schaefer beer hands down was the worst I ever drank. Bought a case for 4 bucks once and ended up giving almost all of it away. I occasionally drank Mickey's after college and didn't think it was all that bad, especially compared to Schaefer. My favorite in the bars was Prior Double Dark. Wish I could still get it.

the one beer to have, when you're having more than one

Mickey's Malt Liquor had those big mouth bottles which were nice for swilling at a high rate but they were a pain in the a$$ when you were driving as the wide mouth allowed brew to escape the bottle and soil your pants during evasive driving maneuvers.

Mickey's was def. malt liquor. The only thing those bottles were good for is if you were on a trip and didn't want to stop.;)

I was a big fan of the 12 horse ale. Is that still around?
I was a Michelob and Michelob Dark guy.
Oh and Bass Ale at the Cafe and Dark Horse Tavern.

Yuengling was slop beer when I was at Penn State. Then Mickey's, Red White and Blue.

I was at a tailgate like 6-7 years ago and I tried to beer bong a Miller Lite and I threw up.

Truth me told I enjoy Miller Lite, I was terrible at bonging a beer, though. That was my worst experience with beer at PSU.

Michelob? Were you a trust fund baby?:)

Yuengling was slop beer when EVERYONE was at PSU. Other than that, I think Milwaukee's best and Natural Lite were the worst.

I don't get the hate for Mickey's from so many people. In the world of malt liquor its the best you can buy, there are so many malt liquors that are so much worse. Like colt 45 double malt.

When you are out of Schlitz you are out of beer, when you are out of Old Style you are out of business - not a terrible beer and being from the Chicagoland area was ingrained in me.

Gibbons, it was awful and their slogan was "...the beer that made Milwaukee jealous". Another one was Utica Club. It went right through me

I don't think I drank a beer that wasn't nasty when I was at PSU - Iron, Schlitz, Bud. Coors hadn't come East back then so there is that. But the absolute nastiest college brew was Colt 45.

Now that I'm old, wiser, and have more change rattling around in my pocket, I go with local craft beers.

Anything "Ice" is pretty bad. Not all that long ago (90s) you could get a 30 pack of Shaefer at the beer distributor in Burnham along Logan Blvd there for about $8. I used to buy it! LOL. The Phyrst used to sell Natty Light on draft when I was at PSU. Murderous. Pitchers were dirt cheap though. That stuff was so bad I think they used it to hose the place down when the night was over.

My all-time worst had to be Hop-n-Gator, a fruity malt liquor from Iron City. It took a friend and me almost a year to finish a case of it. We had to be really desperate to drink that instead of throwing it away.
