Man, that sounds good. I've seen Kettle brand chips here in Austin but never this flavor. I'm a fan of dill pickle and salt & vinegar myself, regardless of brand.

I grew up on A-Treat, which seems similar. Are they still around?

Not a salt & vinegar fan.....but when I worked after retirement at Trader Joe’s, we sold a ton of the salt & vinegar bags. Give them a try if you have’t!

They also came to mind when I saw the chips. For the last couple of years only two have been showing up. Here's and ugly sitting in my seat with my youngest granddaughter. Only two have been at the games the last couple seasons. I asked about the third, honest to God, he told me the reason for missing games and I forgot. They really put the energy into getting the crowd into the game. I believe we have a Big Ugly on the BWI, as a poster, he told me he wasn't the one.

Ate a lot of Troyer Farms growing up, as they were somewhat local. But still prefer the taste of Snyders of Berlin. To me, they taste more "real" and less processed.
Loved the Troyer’s BBQ. We used to go tour the plant every year in grade school for our one and only field trip...culture unlimited.:)
 
My son's wife is from an Ohio Potato chip family, her Grandfather owns Jones potato chips.

I did some consulting work for them in the early 90's. At the time two brothers were running things, one was doing the production and the other sales. Some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to work with. I hope they both doing well.

When I was at their Mansfield sales office/warehouse I would always pick up some burnt chips at the small "company store" they had there for my wife. The chips come out of the fryer and travel along a conveyor belt and a couple of inspectors pull off any chips that are burnt or have other problems. They used to just throw the burnt ones away but people started asking for them so they would bag them up and sell them. I believe you could only get them at the company store.

As a young business guy and entrepreneur (paper boy), the money I didn’t save, was used to buy Yoohoo chocolate drink, Tastykakes and Wise BBQ chips at the corner s tore. The Wise BBQ chips were my favorite along with Charlie’s tins. I could sit for hours and lick the bbq seasoning off the
Wise Chips. (Probably what turned me into a caring lover). When Borden took over Wise, the BBQ chips started their downward spiral to becoming a substandard BBQ flavored chip...my opinion.

They didn't usually mess with the recipes in each region.

Ahhh, nope, I'm not quite that old. I worked there from 90-97. I bailed before KKR broke them up and sold off all the pieces except the chemical division(which they renamed to Hexion).

Has this turned into a 'My Favorite Chips' thread? If so, I'll add my favorite when traveling to Germany - Paprika chips! Quite a few brands there, but this is a good one...

I shared your story with my daughter-in-law and she said when she was younger they use to go to the plant during the summer when she was out of school and help pick out the burnt chips.

So My DIL's Grandfather Steve Jones wants to know if your name is Anthony? If so I guess he remembers you.
