.. In the starting rotation NOW! No experimenting during the season, it is painfully obvious Morton doesn't have a clue right now. Can't afford to give away games at the beginning of the season, which is what will happen if Morton remains in the rotation. There is a better alternative.

Until today's disaster I would have disagreed. Awful.

On another note, it appears as though Alvarez will be a defensive disaster at first. Already has thrown two away today.

Charlie always struck me as a Nuke LaLouche type.

He does have - at times - wicked "stuff". But, at some time you just have to come to the conclusion that he's not a winner.

Sometimes these things can be deceiving, but if you ever hear him interviewed it always leaves you shaking your head. Just doesn't seem to be all there. Combine that with the fact that the performance always seems to be less than the "stuff"...and I think he may be fool's gold.

He - even as is - isn't the worst #5 starter in the league (heck, maybe not even the worst #4)....but if you have a guy like Worley in the pen you've got a better option. I would have left Morton in extended spring training.....it wouldn't be a stretch to just write it up as "he's not quite ready yet after his off-season health issues". Give him a couple weeks in FLA, then a couple turns through the rotation in Indy, and see where he stands in May.

He may be able to help the club sometime this year......and you don't want to toss aside a guy who has great stuff, and has a track record better than most back of the rotation guys....but right now he should not be in the starting 5.

Edit: And it looks like that is exactly what the buccos are going to do. Good move.

Morton has a career record of 32 -60 Why would you want him on the roster

He did have one gem game against St Louis last year but it doesn't make up for his bad games
