I have a Droid maxx2. My phone has started to shut down with 50%battery life left. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I also notice when I am using Waze and my phone is plugged to my car charger , battery life loses %,never did that before.Always would keep charge.

I'd try a new battery first. They are fairly inexpensive online. But from my experiences, I've learned that phones around 2-3 years old start acting up. I think the "hard drive" in the phones can't keep up with the app updates and such. Think about trying to install the newest Windows into a 1998 laptop. The drive will work overtime and eat battery. I also don't think it's an accident as the provider and phone maker benefit from you getting a new phone. Apple got sued for this a few years ago.

Agreed. with everyone above.

First, look to see if there is a Droid operating system update. Feb 2018 is probably 4 or 5 releases late.

Second, get a battery from Amazon or whatever, for that model. Google how to replace a battery in that model and follow the directions. Not that hard with an android but a problem with iPhones.

Third, get a new phone. This may be your best bet as the tech on phones is super fast. The new droids, like Google's or Samsung's, are awesome.

I googled your second suggestion and it looks like a royal pita to replace the battery on that phone.

Heat gun to remove the adhesive to remove the battery? I’d say that’s a bit hard for someone who can’t figure out why their battery is dying early and is on this board looking for help.

A new MotoG6 or G7 would be $150-$180 or so -- maybe a better investment than a new battery in an old phone. You'll thank yourself because the screen and camera will be better and everything will just work more smoothly. There's a Moto7 "power" model that has an extra large battery -- can go 2-3 days so your battery worries would be over.

Loved the Droid Maxx. When it finally died on me this past spring, the closest I could find that was similar was either the Moto G7 or the Z3. Didn't like the look of the notch so I went with the Z3. The only con of the Z3 is the double use of the micro usb for headphones and power. Was not interested in the Mods for the Z3 so went with a good Spigen case to protect the glass. So far no buyers remorse.
