OT: so after years of being manly...

#fakenews

False, I was and I was at full strength in ten months post injury/surgery. High level strength not day to day usage. At 12 weeks I didn't have to use the brace anymore becuase the tendon graft was fully healed.
You just need to do the work in PT and do your homework.

Looks like the operation went well as expected. Six weeks immobilization to keep from flexing knee, then if all looks well at that point rehab, rehab, rehab. Doc says realistic 12 month goal is to be jumping if I so desire — all assuming I don’t have a misstep. I
won’t break doc’s orders intentionally for sure. He said it is likely same situation as Oladipo, with same time line. I just don’t have as many rehab hours to burn of course.

Thanks, guys, for being my crutch here.
Good to hear, MIke. Stay with the rehab.

In four weeks post op for torn quad is impressive, good for you bud

Hell I’m struggling at the 48 hour mark — once the nerve block timed out. Holy crap! I just hope I didn’t tear it up while it was feeling okay.

Mike, hang in there. Stick the leg outside for 5 minutes, I guarantee you won’t feel a thing!

Again, if you or the family need anything the next few days, let me know if I can help.

You’ll be ok Mike, just be patient and take help from others. Most important to preserve that repair , stay in that brace locked for those initial weeks , elevated as much as possible.

Crap. The foot of my bad leg caught the rug a little funny last evening. Just setting up the appointment to have doc confirm the repair is trashed. I followed all rules to a T - using crutches, never moving the brace and ace wrap they put me in post-op. I can’t even get sad because it’s so surreal.:(

Mike, hopefully the repair is NOT trashed. Let us know what the doc says (hopefully early tomorrow). So so sorry.

Wow, that is terrible if true. Good luck getting the doc to sort it out.

BUMP - So Mike, what was the result of the Sat night fall?

Hope the doc didn’t have to put you down!

Unless it hurt 20x as much as the original injury, I dont think you totally undid the surgical repair.

You got this.
Pain level after the tiny second incident dropped to like 20% of the old post-recovery level, which made me fear that a lot of tension was lost. Fingers crossed!

and shoveling a big driveway, today I slipped on some hidden ice and got my first ambulance ride. Thankfully no broken bones or knee ligament damage (amazing) but oddly I blew out my right quad. As in totally. Lot of uneasy in my little brain right now. Surgery is in the a.m. Nobody has a solid theory on the how of all this. Not cool with the snow storm, then -10 to -22 temps forecast for midweek.

You should have struck a blow against toxic masculinity and let your wife shovel the driveway.

Doc kept me in suspense all day, but no re-do needed!!! Thanks for the wishes, guys. I wanted to jump in the office (my first day back).

Only thing we can think of is that the wound was sticking badly and was torquing the site around before the “incident,” which then freed it up.

Yes, screw TNT, but let me know if you’d like to know anything about my experience or what to expect,be happy to help, I’ve also had to care for two youngsters during, so I can empathize With the 5 year old on crutches piece
