Nice. Seventh and eighth. Cutting it close, I know. What are your dates? I can figure out which hotels are offered on Express Deals.
Just spent a night in Philadelphia with my wife. Stayed at Westin, dinner at Gran Caffe L'Aquil, then saw Diane Krall at Kimmel Center, followed by beverages at Monks Cafe. Restaurant was amazing and Kimmel Center beautiful. Hotel perfectly located.Suggestions for restaurants are welcome too, of course.

The last time I was in the Bellevue was on January 1, 1980. A bunch of us got a suite for the Mummers Parade. That's all I remember.Looks as if you were a little off your game, as I was able to book the Hyatt for $128 per. Thanks just the same.

Bananas come in "bunches"...there is always a top banana in the bunch. Thanks, brother. Damn nice of you to go to the trouble.Good deal, glad it worked out for you. We spent our wedding night there 15 years ago. Have fun!
You asked who was the 'longest banana', not the 'top banana'. There's a distinct difference, Step, if you (please) get my drift.Bananas come in "bunches"...there is always a top banana in the bunch. Hotel Rittenhouse, right? I was going to recommend it. Great location. Smith and Wollensky on the ground floor for a good steak and happy hour or late cocktails. Also, the Omni on Chestnut at 4th, right in the middle of Society Hill, and a few blocks from Independence Hall etc. There's also a Westin on 17th between Market and Chestnut. It used to be the Ritz until The Ritz moved to Broad St.
My go-to restaurant in Philly has always been The Saloon at 7th and Clymer in South Philly. I've been going there since my college years. My girlfriend took me there for my 21st birthday (still remember what I ordered that night - 18 oz strip, full order of aglio olio, sauteed mushrooms, salad - I weighed 165 wet with a metabolism on the burn setting). The Saloon isn't much from the outside but the inside is beautiful, full of antiques. If you go, call ahead and ask for a table upstairs. Not cheap but won't break the bank. Check it out.

P.S. Has a Philly mob history too. ChickenmanTesta would like it. I'm certain the longtime deceased, real Phil 'Chicken Man' Testa did many times.
What replaced S&W? I haven't been in the city for a year or so. Library Bar? I just looked at The Rittenhouse website. Looks like a lot has changed. The S&W bar was full of Philly power brokers (including Lubert).Saloon is EXCELLENT atmosphere if you liked "the Sapranoes". Sorry Smith and Wolensky is gone from the Rittenhouse. That was our favorite.
