Texas man charged after alleging Penn State professor implanted a chip to control his mind

A Texas man is behind bars, accused of traveling from Texas to State College to track down a Penn State professor.

Jeffery Reese, 41, is charged with criminal attempt to possess a weapon.

According to a complaint, Reese contacted Penn State police April 9 and told them a Penn State professor had implanted a chip in his skull and was trying to kill him.

Penn State police said they had previous run-ins with Reese and said he had stated before that he "would have to kill the professor."

Police said Reese made the 25-hour drive from Texas to State College April 6 and on April 8 did several internet searches for gun sales in State College.

When officers met with Reese April 9, Reese told them that the professor has maintained control of his heart, brain, mind and soul since 2014, according to a complaint.

Police said on April 11, Reese made concerning statements to a hotel employee in State College claiming he was not leaving State College until he got retribution, no matter what it took.

Reese was formally charged last Thursday and is being held in jail without bail, the judge saying he is an extreme danger to the professor.

Man is clearly a paranoid schizophrenic. I hope he gets the help he needs for the sake of all involved. Another person who needs to be institutionalized, but won't be until he causes harm.

“Mr. Reese, it wasn’t a professor, but it was the PSU BOT. That’s who you should go after!”

Exactly. Sounds like a classic case from my clinical rotation in psychiatry done at a state mental hospital (which doesn’t exist anymore because the politicians thought it was better to turn these people loose to live on the streets).
