Looks like this is gonna be bad. Hope anyone there is staying safe.

Thx. I live in the northern parts of Houston and it's already saturated everywhere around this city and state for that matter. Rains have been coming down all morning and the creek beds are already high. There will be wide spread flooding around the city, can't see it any other way. We can only hope and pray we don't see heavy damages to homes and loss of lives like we had down this way 3 weeks ago. I had a huge branch from a giant oak tree in my front yard snap this morning from all the rain and it almost hit a Jeep Cherokee parked in my neighbors driveway. Very fortunate on that one. Spent much of the day with a chain saw trying to clear it.

Thanks for thinking about us, bmw. I'm in the Hill Country 30 miles west of Austin. We spent yesterday afternoon preparing for the storm that never reached us. It turned north and we had very little rain - just a brief thunderstorm in the afternoon. Keep the folks along the I-35 corridor from Waco to Dallas-Fort Worth in your thoughts. They're getting the rain today.

Here in Austin it turned out much better than expected. Some had been forecasting 5-10" of rain from this storm. The city was prepping for more flooding but the storm turned north, sparing Austin from a direct hit and actually rain totals should be much more manageable.

We went into downtown Austin last night to see the Weepies concert, and it was pretty deserted. I expected leaving the Paramount Theater to a deluge, but it was not even raining. A whole lot of nothing. Heading back into town for the Sunny Ade and his African Beats show tonight. So far, nice sunny day, 79 degrees.
