OT: The Clemson butthurt is on full social media display

That is the big IF. Who has the easiest path to run the table right now was my point. Bama has LSU, AU, and UGA in title game. LSU still has @Bama and possibly UGA. tOSU has PSU, UM, and possibly Wisky again. PSU has @MIN, @tOSU, and the BT title game. Clemson has Wake and maybe Pitt or some other ACC slob in the title game. An undefeated returning National Champ won't get jumped over by a 1 loss team IMO. It could happen, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yea, I'm not sure where it stands right now but I think UVA leads The ACC Coastal. pitt really crapped the bed losing to them to start the season. Miami might be closing in on them though.
The ACC is just horrid.

Uva is first, and is one up on miami, BUT is tied in the loss column with Pitt (who they have the advantage over) and of all teams, VAtech, who they play at the end of the year.

Pitt was in the driver's seat there...… until that loss to Miami last-last week (which NEVER shoulda' happened, Pitt was the far better team on that field, but pissed it away with three turnovers and some costly penalties - - - - which is something they always seem to do).

Now, its in UVA's hands - - - - and the key game for them is the season-ender with VT (their other two games are dog meat)

I might have written VT off too soon. They seem to be clawing their way back.

Jesus Christmas. I know it's BS just to get reactions, I know it's all a show anyway and Clemson controls it's destiny, but still...

Stephan a Smith is horrible trash. Just horrible. So disrespectful to us. It's like being angry at fictional characters but I can't help it.

The far better team doesn't turn the ball over 3 times and commit costly penalties.

To some extent, I think he (and many other talking heads) are fictional characters. It is really, really hard to be good enough as an analyst that people will watch you regularly. For the rest of folks, in order to get viewership/page views/clicks/retweets whatever, they have to say something sensational. It almost doesn't matter what that sensational thing is because people will talk about it. Even if people are upset it doesn't matter.

It's like the old Howard Stern movie scene:

Researcher: The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.

Pig Vomit: How can that be?

Researcher: Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next."

Pig Vomit: Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?

Researcher: Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day.

Pig Vomit: But... if they hate him, why do they listen?

Researcher: Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next."

I'm yet to hear one person make a convincing argument for Clemson without referencing their performance from prior seasons, which is completely meaningless in the scope of 2019 playoff rankings. Stephen A. Smith included. Only within the idiocy that is the NCAA "playoff" system is winning in a prior season even discussed as a possible data point for the current season, and it's a data point that doesn't hold any water.

It’s all nonsense and a waste of time for sports reporters and Clemson fans. If they took 2 seconds to stop and think (much less look at past years rankings) they wouldn’t be upset at all.

The committee always causes some kind of controversy early but if you look at how they strategically rank teams it all works out as they expected in the end (baring a meltdown by a favored team).

Alabama plays LSU this weekend and PSU plays Ohio St in a few weeks. Clemson is guaranteed to move up 2 spots to #3 given their extremely weak schedule. This weeks ranking was just for show and controversy.

Clemson could very well win it all. They obviously have a super talented team and coach. But they have by far the easiest schedule I have ever seen for a team contending for the National Championship. It must be a very boring year for their fans to sit through such a crap season without even the possibility of even a good ACC championship game. In wrestling, I never cared what my record was, I only cared if I beat someone who was pretty good. Other wins never mattered much. I don't know why they have their panties up in such a wad. We have to play Minnesota and OSU. LSU and Bama play plus their championship game. Meanwhile Clemson gets a bye to the Semi's. Even though I don't think we can beat OSU, its nice to be recognized for what this team has accomplished so far this year. But who knows, if the offense continues to grow, it could be an interesting finish.

Yes

I do hope Wake Forest takes them down.
I like Wake to play well for 60 minutes in that one. Whether they can pull it off on the road...have no idea. But don't discount QB Jamie Newman for Wake. He's playing some ball. WR Surratt is the best player in the ACC.

I suspect a 42-35 type game.

Just for fun, and to further illustrate the preposterous nature of the Clemson schedule and associated butthurt, if you go to the 538 predictor tool, and assume (individually) that each of the top 12 teams lost in their next game, Clemson would be the only team (notwithstanding that loss) to still have a greater than 50% chance of making the playoff under the tool. And that is notwithstanding the fact that Clemson's next opponent (NCState) is given the second lowest probability of actually winning (5%) among the opponents (behind only MD against OSU at 1%).

Clemson fans are pissed because it is now clear they can't lose a game and still make the playoffs.
