OT: The Golden State Warriors..

I don't like the dubs but have to give them credit. They are warriors. I am also no fan of KD's but he did what champions do; leave it on the court. I have no problem with the fans cheering...we see that in every pro sport. Plus, I don't think the fans knew the severity. I don't like it, but it is hardly unusual.

On Curry, he is way better than his stats show. He pulls his defender 40 feet from the basket and takes another defender with him because you have to double him. Kerr is a great coach because that was his gig too. Regardless, that leaves two defenders way outside and the paint wide open for four against three. IMHO, he's up there with Jordan and James.

Finally, Dubs have been very very fortunate on injuries to this point. In fact, the first year they won the championship, every single point guard on the opposing team got injured just before their series or early in the series (including the Cavs Kyrie Irving forcing the Cavs to start Matthew Delavadova and back him up with a shooting guard).

Having said all of that, the Dubs are in the top five NBA dynasties (Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Warriors...IMHO)

I want to see them lose. And adding KD was like the Yankees picking up Giambi and A-Rod. But both sides created the opportunity. And if the sportsman in KD wasn’t bothered by the downside of the choice, he wouldn’t be likely to move. They went from doormat for years and years to dynasty—with great basketball, not just by adding a giant like Shaq. I just don’t like the competitive imbalance of any perennial favorite.

Agree....also have to wonder why these "dynasty" and "super teams" never seem to happen in places like KC, Cincy, Milwaukee, Minny, Denver......in the modern era of sports. Wait, never mind...I do know.

Well I mean one did happen in Cleveland when LBJ, Love and Irving teamed up. Granted Kyrie was drafted there and Lebron is from Akron but it was at least a big three if not a full blown super team.

Can't agree with you at all.

The Cavs were 33-49 the year before James returned, with K Irving on the roster. The Cavs had the #1 pick and grabbed Andrew Wiggins from Kansas. They traded him to Minnesota for Love. So Irving was a draft pick, Love came from a draft pick, and James was also a draft pick who returned. Can you show me who the superstar free agent that came to CLE to win a championship?

James might have been returning but he was still a superstar AND a free agent.

James might have been returning but he was still a superstar AND a free agent.
But he didn't do it to join a "super team". he joined a team that had a losing record and didn't make the playoffs. And, not a single big name free agent was added after James joined the Cavs. So it wasn't like a big name free agent joined the Cavs, at any time, to crate a super team or win a championship.

so, confirmed that Durant suffered a torn Achilles. I believe the timeframe for return is 10 to 12 months but many, if not most, athletes never fully recover. It will be interesting to see who signs him to a guaranteed max contract. His best bet may be to stay with the dubs.

Also, have to wonder....they had to do like 135 MRI's on his sore calf. If there was any indication is AH was about to give, he could sue them for quite a bit of change.

Fair enough...but he wasn't joining a "super team" and wasn't joining to win a championship.

Obli, he certainly wasn’t joining a “super team” but certainly was joining to win a championship! (Anywhere he decided to go he was going to win a championship!)

You think these doctors who treat athletes with 100mm contracts do not have them sign contracts preventing suits?

Noone would ever treat an athlete if the downside was a 120mm contract loss.

If there was malpractice no Claus would protect them. And if I am the victim, I wouldn't care about the lack of doctors willing to treat future athletes. In fact, the lawsuit teaches those who take a game over a career ending injury lightly. It cleanses the system

Here is my “stock” advice for the night. Go buy Knicks tickets as soon as you can for next season so that way when KD signs there in the off-season you can watch your investments sky rocket.

My understanding is that the previous sore calf probably did not make him more susceptible for an Achilles‘ tendon, but it does differ from person to person. That said, I really cannot believe they let him play. I know he is probably on way out of GS, and I understand the will of the athlete to play, but he really screwed himself by this. Most people do not recover fully from this injury. Ryan Howard was never the same.
Sorry for KD
I personally do not like either team. I don’t like dynasties and the Toronto fans are so damn smug and insufferable, having them win something will suck.

Malpractice? That is quite a claim for a strained calf.

I beg to differ with regard to the Toronto fans. I was there all last week. Their sports have sucked forever and they are hungry. Good people, generally

Honestly, I could see Santa not protecting him. But Mrs. Claus bailing on him? I find that hard to believe.

I beg to differ with your begging. Watch a Leafs game. They act like they deserve to win the Cup every year. And Drake!! Ah, Drake!!! No thanks, I’m out.

How do you feel about Spike Lee?

NBA is going to have to do something about cute fans. Especially after the dubs minority owner shoves a player

No opinion on Spike Lee, probably because the Knicks have sucked for so long

I agree. The celebrity and. Outside fans who feel they can inject themselves into the game is very annoying. I don’t think it happens in any other sport.

Because every other sport has some sort of barrier between the players and the fans.

Just too many injuries. Losing Klay when he had put up 30 points in 31 minutes effectively sealed the outcome tonight. Hope he and Durant both recover well. Viva the Splash Brothers.

Tough loss for the Warriors. Thought they got the short end of the officiating tonight, but they also missed a slew of free throws in the second half. The kid from Wichita State came up huge for Toronto.

The NHL match last night and the NBA game tonight were pretty good back-to-back entertaining evenings.

Canada has won both a World Series and a NBA championship since the last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup. Granted the Blue Jays World Series win was just months after Montreal won the Cup. Still somewhat amusing to me.

I'm sure there is much OUTRAGE. in the Bay Area today. That obviously was not the way the Warriors wanted to end the season or close down Oracle Arena. They might have won last night had Klay Thompson not gotten injured. I think they would have won the series with a healthy Kevin Durant. Oh well.

They definitely would’ve won the series with a healthy Durant.

That is a great fun fact!

Rarely have I been happier seeing a particular team lose than Golden State.

Kawhi Leonard - best 2 way player in the NBA. Is there any doubt after this playoff run?

Couldn't agree more and I don't even watch the NBA. Living in the Bay Area with these bandwagon fans is excruciating.

I am not too sad for them losing via injury...they won two as a result. GSW have been the luckiest team as far as injuries until this year. last year, in a game the Cavs should have won (game 1) James either broke or severely bruised after game 1 in the locker room. In GSW first championship, every single point guard for the opposing team got hurt right before or early in the series. This includes the Cavs Kyrie Irving.

I’m not sad either, it sucks for Durant going into free agency .. but other then that I could care less.

totally agree....Clay too (although, I am not a huge fan as he is way too cocky for me). I understand he tore a ligament in his knee....he's also a FA.

Bandwagon fans?! Oracle Arena has sold out every game for YEARS. Probably close to 20 years. The Warriors flat out STUNK for most of that period.

I moved out here in 2010. I didn't see one Warriors bumper sticker, flag or T-Shirt. Now I can't drive 10 feet without seeing a flag or bumper sticker. People out here don't even know who Run TMC are, yet I do and I grew up on the East Coast. I heard it was the same way with the Giants before they started winning the World Series. The company I work for has box seats for the Giants game and nobody will use the tickets now that the Giants are at the bottom of the division. They practically beg us to use the tickets.
