OT: True Detective begins

Count me in. But seriously doubting anything can match the eerie tone and acting chemistry of the inaugural series.

First season was amazing no doubt. I actually like all people that are carrying the leads this year(I know a lot don't like Vaughn or Farrell).

I am pumped. If it can come close to the first season it will be kickass.

Looking forward to Ray Donovan returning too. That show is capable of making you love and hate all the personalities of the entire family.

I was surprised I liked it.

Skeptically excited about TD season 2, because I also do not know how they can match season 1. Season 1 set the bar so high, it is going to be almost impossible to match. A few things I believe will make season 1 hard for season 2 to duplicate or surpass:

1. IMO, the swamp / cajun country of Louisiana is so unique and so different that it was (in a way) a major "character". That culture, the way of life, the topography, the people .... I would say that maybe after Matthew Mc and Woody, that the location of season #1 was the 3rd most important "character". I just do not see California matching the location.

2. From all reports we are able to gather, it seems like Vince Vaughn is the villain in season 2. Part of what made season 1 so great was the un-known. Remember all the theories and the guessing each week. I remember theories that ranged from just about every character --- including Matthew Mc --- being the killer. And even until the very last episode, the closing scene left viewers in doubt that killing the grass cutter/lawn guy got the entire group, or if he just happened to be one in a larger cult. If VV is the villain, and we know it already, how can we have the same level of un-known?
