Very confused, though, about how such an attack could occur in a place with strict gun control.

Got strong armed pickpocketed of my iphone on a Paris train. Cops said "it happens all the time, we can't do anything about it." Thanks, France.
Unarmed Marines vs Moroccan with a machine gun and 300 rounds. Seems like a fair fight to me. Well, then again, advantage Marines.
Prayers to the Injured Marines, especially the one in critical condition.
Thank God those Marines were there or it would have been a complete blood bath- trapped on a moving train with an armed terrorist. Sounds like the French president forgot to thank the Marines in his comments.
I heard there were plenty of French soldiers hiding in the caboose. They planned to catch the shooter when he tried to escape out the back, I suppose.
