I still think this was one of the most incredible feat's of athletic agility in sports history:
That was the NBA Finals - on May 11.
I think today, they are halfway through their regular season on May 11.
I still think this was one of the most incredible feat's of athletic agility in sports history:
I had the chance to spend some time with Dr. J.
I am a former HS BB coach from Phila. I was asked to bring some kids for background in a NBA charity commercial the Dr. was in.
The Director and crew were form NY. He asked the Doctor to dunk the ball for the camera, actually, he asked him to do such in multiple shots. It amazed me how effortlessly he did so. Sort of like you or I dropping a piece of paper in a trash can. The other thing about him was his fingers. They looked like spider legs and I think he could have wrapped his hand around mine twice when we shook hands. I know his hands were referred to as "meat hooks". Very humble man. Where are THOSE now ?????
Meh. I give it a 6.5 out of 10.0 because he didn't stick the landing.
I should have added that I can make that move, while sticking the landing, but I choose not to.
The man who basically gave birth to the term "posterized". This is back when I really enjoyed watching the NBA. Too bad it became the garbage it is today.I still think this was one of the most incredible feat's of athletic agility in sports history:
I remember him dunking over Artis Gilmore, who I believe was over 7 feet tall and could really jump. Quite a feat for Doc.
Is that how you navigate through the breakfast buffett line while making rude comments at the non tong users?
He was so much better as a Squire and a Net.
It was reported that Gilmore could touch the top of the backboard. A reporter asked him if he could do it and Gilmore replied, put a 20 dollar bill up there and i ll show you.I remember as a kid, reading a Sports Illustrated article on Artis Gilmore. The cover photo had him standing in front of a giraffe in a zoo (perhaps in San Antonio).
The reason for this photo? Artis was once asked by an older woman "Son, do you play basketball?". His response "No ma;am, I clean giraffe ears at the zoo".
Awesome.
Defenses are better now. He never had the best jump shot and that's a necessity nowadays.Imagine how good he would be in today's game![]()
