Other notable matches, results, and news

Jim Gibbons both competed and coached for Iowa State. He may sometimes favor the Hawkeyes calling B1G matches because he over inflates their impact on the sport, but I’m pretty sure he would’ve favored Iowa State if he was calling the match.

TJ, on the other hand, seems to worship at the church of Dan Gable indefinitely.

Nasir Bailey just got majored by wrestlestat 31 Blake Boarman. Handled easy..seems to have problems on bottom. Hopefully Braeden can do the same and move up in rankings
Umm ... The 12-3 final is a close win without the feet-to-back double in the 3rd. Still counts as an upset win, but not sure the other claims are true.

Lol..I watched the match live..did you? What claim isn't true? 0-0 after 1, start 2nd in neutral, Bailey quick TD, other guy gets right out and takes Bailey down and rides out period (Bailey like a pancake on bottom). 4-3 Boarman going into 3rd..starts neutral in 3rd (guessing both guys chose neutral), Bailey backing up much of the period, Boarman single leg, switches to double and Bailey went to his back and stayed there rest of period.

Not sure what wasnt dominating in your eyes? #3 goes down to unranked guy..I thought it was noteworthy

I don't think Davis' attack rate is high enough to beat Bailey.
The Bailey I just watched..Davis dominates. He had his hand taped up pretty good and looked lethargic the whole match. Bailey afraid to go bottom and Braeden will do some damage there.

Just got a text message from someone who knows Seth Nevills pretty well. He’s doing great this year and is undefeated so far for the season. His last win was a 7-0 shutout against the #13 ranked guy from Pitt.

Beat Pitzker tonight and will have Corry Day #23 on Jan 5, along with Gavin Hoffman now up a a hundo to 285 and wrestling for Lock Haven.

They wrestled at Rider who hosted Pitt, Maryland and South Dakota . I swung by yesterday to watch (very close to where I am). Seth looked good though Maryland not so much. They lost to Rider who looked solid against them. Overall some good matches , Stout took apart Glazier at 197.

My friend sent me a picture of Seth wrestling the guy from Pitt. He looks leaner and a lot more muscular than when he was at Penn State.

To be fair......AJ Ferrari won three matches today. He had a pin and then defeated Hill from Oklahoma 17-4 and followed it up with an 18-3 tech. My apologies for the bad news :)

Is Ed Scott injured or something? That seems pretty uncharacteristic of him.
He’s a weird one. Him and Andonian and a crazy series. It went like this

Andonian win-9-5
Andonian win-11-6
Andonian win-24-10
Andonian win-15-9
Scott win-Fall
Scott win-18-7
Scott win-14-5
Andonian win-13-7

That makes no sense. Not a single close match and total blowouts going both ways. Even stranger is the last 2 are 11 days apart where Scott wins by 9 and then loses by 6. I always chalked this up to Andonian doing Andonian things but maybe Scott is totally up and down as well

Ed Scott is a headhunter. Live by the headlock, die by the headlock.

From Flo-
Oregon State's redshirting Justin Rademacher beat Oklahoma State's redshirting Cody Merrill 4-2 in the 197lb Reno TOC final.

Rademacher has jumped so many levels in the past year. He was excellent all summer and looked great at U20’s. I’m pretty sure Rademacher beat Merrill at the U20 trials as well. I didn’t see this happening. I had Merrill as one of the very best recruits last year. I still think he’s incredible and will do really well in college but it’s more about just how good Rademacher has gotten.

Also, #22 Matty Singleton beat #12 Simon Ruiz at 174 6-5. Ruiz has been on a roll so good result for Singleton who hasn’t reached the level most thought he would out of high school

197 at the Soldier Salute is interesting. Buchanan is a big favorite but he will likely have Cody Merrill in the semis and either Salazar or Aeoden Sinclair in the finals. Salazar is an AA from Minnesota and should give Buchanan a tough match. I’m more interested in seeing how these highly touted freshman stack up against Buchanan though. I think both Merrill and Sinclair have NCAA champion level talent but probably need a couple years to get there. Will be fun to see if they can keep it close against the top dogs at this weight. Sinclair vs Salazar in the semis will be great as well

I would be surprised if Merrill or Sinclair can keep it inside a major to Buchanan.
