Reread the 2nd, 4th, and 5th paragraphs. Not a ton of data, but I chose this article because it also covered the lawsuit(s).This was only part of the story -- though I was unaware of Peters' discrimination suit and Pitt's counter suit. Thanks for posting. Such a shame it went down that road.
The part missing was: one of the wrestlers called the hookers and had them sent to another room as a prank. The hookers were armed and robbed the other wrestlers in that room. Pitt found out a few weeks later when they saw the police report. Peters was fired for not notifying the school.

Agree....seems tough on the smaller schools. Why did they go from a skimpy 9.5 to 30? Why not 15-20? Probably NIL related.I ran into LHU Coach Rob Weikel the other day in McElhattan. He recently had a hip replacement done and he is walking with a crutch. I usually ask him about their scholarship situation but he is evasive about discussing it. That has to be rough for a school like that to learn that the big boys are going to be able to give out 30.
Drexel?I'd rate my preference for the PA schools
1. PSU
2T. UPenn (love Valenti hire) / Bucknell (love Neff and Smitty); plus they were both in my guy's top 4 when he was deciding.
4. Pitt
5. Lehigh
6. LHU
7. F&M
8. Clarion
9. Edinboro
10. Bloomsburg
What they did was reduce roster sizes and then say everyone can get a full ride (if funding is available).Agree....seems tough on the smaller schools. Why did they go from a skimpy 9.5 to 30? Why not 15-20? Probably NIL related.
How will they comply with Title 9?Agree....seems tough on the smaller schools. Why did they go from a skimpy 9.5 to 30? Why not 15-20? Probably NIL related.
They havent been close to the 9.9 yet. What they did was reduce roster sizes and then say everyone can get a full ride (if funding is available).
Schools like Lock Haven have an opportunity to get to 30 rides sooner -- because they're much lower cost, thus they have to raise a lot less money. The challenge is not having as many big-hitter donors.
Lock Haven is in a slightly better spot than some others because of their women’s program existing. The problem they’ll face is funding the new scholarships proportionately. The AD and the department in general is going to have to hustle in order to facilitate that funding. How will they comply with Title 9?
1. PSU.......What can I say......I am a loyal guy.I'd rate my preference for the PA schools

(Don’t forget Bucknell)In terms of PA D1 teams I root for:
1) PSU. Next question.
2) Edinboro. They’re right down the road from me and I went to a few of their camps thru HS. Hoping they at least become competitive again.
3) Clarion. We did joint practices with them when I was in college and I appreciate their history. My stepdad was a volunteer coach there for a season back in the day too.
4) Pitt. A few local D10 boys have gone there over the years and I like Dayton Pitzer. I met him at a Waller camp just before his freshman year of HS. Super nice young man. Screw Pitt football though.
5) LHU. A buddy of mine wrestled for them for two years and liked the program a lot before transferring to Gannon to finish his degree.
6) Lehigh
7) Penn
8) Bloomsburg
9) F&M
10) Drexel
If we’re including all other PA college programs, UPJ and Thiel knock Drexel and F&M off my list. I hung out with 3x D2 national champ Chris Eddins at a Waller camp for a couple of summers and one of my old practice partners wrestled for Thiel. Admittedly, I’m still mildly bitter Thiel didn’t recruit me lol
Oops. Completely forgot about them. I'll stick them in right after F&M. I have nothing against the schools at the bottom of my list, just less of a connection to any recent athletes.Drexel?
I grew up with Cris Eddins' dad and his HS coach was also my middle school coach. Once in HS when my parents were away I threw a little party. The elder Eddins showed by and threw another kid threw our picture window. I did not come out of that weekend unscathed.(Don’t forget Bucknell)
Forgot all about them lol. I’d probably slot them in around 9. They’d still get bumped out if I included Thiel and UPJ though(Don’t forget Bucknell)
I'm kind of disappointed with how far edinboro has fallen. They used to have a pretty solid program. I also wish slippery rock would have stuck aroundHow do you all rank your fandom / rooting interest in the PA schools?
I know there are plenty of Lehigh sympathists on this mess board, but I'm curious to see how many. Lehigh bores & annoys me, and I cannot stand their brown color, so I'm always rooting for Pitt OR Lock Haven to overtake them for 2nd in the state. I'll even add UPenn, after Reina leaves it to Valenti following this year. So, starting in 2026 tourney szn, mine looks like:
1. PSU
2. Pitt
3. LHU
4. UPenn (coached by Valenti, NOT Reina)
5. Pennsylvania Western University, Edinboro
6. Bucknell
7. Pennsylvania Western University, Clarion
8. F&M (I went to Dickinson, so these guys are rivals in a way)
9. Bloomsburg
10. Lehigh
Apologies to Mountain Hawk fans; I love YOU, just not that program and I haven't let out any public h8 in like a long time so thx for bearing with me.
Pitt athletics is a mess right now. I know people will reference men's soccer and women's volleyball, but I talking about the NIL transition and Lyke's refusal to adopt its prominence. They aren't going to all of a sudden get a formidable RTC, bigger NIL money and compete with a PSU/Okie State. Separately, there is a ton of talent here but these top programs are fighting over less than a dozen kids each year and most of those kids don't live in the WPIAL.Wake the damn giant up. I want more competition, not less. If getting Bo launched a Pitt resurgence in our fertile wrestling area, so be it. And if Bo goes Cowboy, Buckeye, or Hawk, bring it on. How great would it be to root for a Lion underdog against such a talent? Have you forgotten the blood rush of Cenzo’s first? Yes sir, I’d get far more enjoyment from our Beau beating Mendez/Alirez in March than our team crushing others by 100+ points. As with NFL playoffs, give me those not given a chance. Give me a 3C Lion with a formidable—some might say insurmountable—challenge to overcome, even if it’s a Bo Bassett in red or orange. Hell, I’d even shrink this year’s team title margin to 30 if it got me the tournament’s most improbable: Beau’s natty and Kerk over Gable. Tell me you wouldn’t, too.
Excuse the rant. Slow work day.
Every major soccer program is structured this way. Not sure where you move to to avoid this issue. Vermont is clearly out and so is WV at least Sullivan was homegrown.Pitt men's soccer is a team of foreign nationals - there are very few home grown contributors. Many of the schools are this way and at the very least heavily supplement the US talent with scholarship deals to foreign players. Pitt went from a nothing soccer program circa 2015 to a powerhouse, all driven by Vidovich's offshore talent pipeline.
Bringing in foreign kids who take scholarships away from US kids at a state school like Pitt, who I support by way of taxes, always rubbed me the wrong way.
You are 100% correct, though some are more than others. Big10 has a far better ratio of US to foreign. Vermont - WV - Pitt - Marshall are all very successful with the predominant foreign player incorporation.Every major soccer program is structured this way. I would think then Michigan kids taking scholarships from PA kids at a PA state supported school would be an issue also.Pitt men's soccer is a team of foreign nationals - there are very few home grown contributors. I once ate chicken wings in Wellsburg, WV next to 2-3 Italian families. They were there to watch their boys and from the old country's I told my wife Bethany has to be one of the best D3 schools in the country. They were .500.You are 100% correct, though some are more than others. Big10 has a far better ratio of US to foreign. I always thought they needed to limit the # of foreign nationals on each roster. Keep it more US kids and let the homegrown talent have at it. With NIL it makes it tougher since the taxpayer money argument is not in play.
