PAN AM FS results

Hmmm, Kellen Russell didn't place at 65kg. We should have sent Zain.

Pan Ams is a waste given the team we send. We may have sent 4 qualifiers (at most) for a tournament with seeding ramifications. It is ludicrous.

We really need to get our starters to this tournament and have a team picked.

I think that's much easier said than done, given that the only realistic way to make that happen would back the US Open into the college season. Otherwise you're going US Open two weeks after NCAA finals, then trials two weeks after that, and two weeks later the Pan Ams. I think most of the interested wrestlers would find that schedule unworkable, especially the D1 guys. And given that our only Olympic medalists in mens FS this year were D1 wrestlers, a schedule that puts the screws to them seems especially unworkable. And I'm pretty sure the UWW or Pan Am organizers don't care about the NCAAs, and the NCAA doesn't care about the UWW.

I think the int'l seeding would be better handled if it was determined by the top finishes at x number (3?) of named sanctioned events, that way guys aren't being effectively penalized for not showing up to certain events when schedules conflict. Then go to other criteria (h2h, etc) to break ties. The purpose of seeding has as much to do with fairness to the entire bracket as a reward to the top guys. The system right now will produce some weird results by favoring the guys who show up to everything rather than the guys who are most likely to win.
