Just from following what's going on on Twitter, it appears that they were able to eventually recover the deleted surveillance footage, but were able to determine who deleted the footage in the first place. There's very few reasons that I can think of why someone would delete surveillance footage covering the area where one of your pledges just died that don't include concealing evidence related to the death.

It's more difficult to deprive the defendants of the right to a fair trial if you fail to have a press conference every month to showcase the decedent's weeping, vengeance-seeking parents.

This is the problem with most DAs in the legal system now. It's no longer a matter of doing their job efficiently with integrity.

It's now a matter of public relations and grandstanding in front of cameras either for ego, influencing a pending jury, or to start the process of running for higher office.

People who were present at that party report that a number of the Trilogy girls had boda bags with wine in them, and that Tim (along with others) took repeated drinks from these boda bags. I wonder if any of that activity is on this video footage, or if this is another Stacy Parks Miller special, edited to show only the involvement of the Beta members.

She is now refiling charges and shopping for a new judge to preside at the preliminary hearing(s), hoping that the bulk of the charges do not get dismissed again. All the while knowing that her successor will be the one making decisions about whether to press forward with these charges. Apparently, she wants to leave office in a blaze of prosecutorial "glory."

I'm thinking that if he had drunk 18 beers in ninety minutes, he would have puked somewhere along the line. If I have my math right on this (always a risk), eighteen 16-ounce beers comes to 288 ounces. There are 128 ounces in a gallon, so that would be more than two gallons of beer hitting his gut in ninety minutes. No way you keep that much down. My guess some of those 18 drinks were hits of wine out of a boda bag. And probably shot glass sized hits.

Generally speaking, the public does want to know facts surrounding a high profile criminal case. That doesn't mean the DA must oblige. They are elected to that office with the expectation they will apply the law fairly. It's not about holding periodic news conferences in order to win the case before it even goes to trial. SPM must have taken some lessons from the PAOAG.

Article I read said every drink was given to him by a frat member. So he didn't walk over and grab a drink.

Drinks could be 12 oz beers or 1.5 oz shot. Half of each is less then a gallon in 90 minutes. Very easy.

What happened is totally reprehensible in every fashion. Piazza did not deserve to die and the frat brothers should be held responsible through the criminal justice system.

However to pretend that Tim wasn't there on his own accord is simply not true. Tim Piazza made the decision to join a frat, Tim Piazza made the decision to accept a bid from this frat, and Tim Piazza made the decision to go to the party. He was one of the many people who made woefully bad choices that evening and had he lived, he would've been perpetuating the nonsense next year.

You don't need to hold a press conference to file charges. IMO it's impossible to get a fair trial in this country anymore because the jury pool is poisoned by publicity before the trial begins.

Fine, but I submit "doing her job" does not include re-filing charges that have already been thrown out by a judge, and judge shopping to see if she can find a new judge who will rule differently. And holding yet another press conference to help poison both public opinion and the prospective jury pool. If it turns out she had some communication with her successor (who will obviously have more say in the future of these cases), then it will look more defensible.
