Very difficult to truly "delete" electronic evidence. I smell something.Looks like she's charging the brothers who allegedly deleted surveillance footage from cameras located in the basement following Piazza's death.
Just from following what's going on on Twitter, it appears that they were able to eventually recover the deleted surveillance footage, but were able to determine who deleted the footage in the first place. There's very few reasons that I can think of why someone would delete surveillance footage covering the area where one of your pledges just died that don't include concealing evidence related to the death.Very difficult to truly "delete" electronic evidence. It's more difficult to deprive the defendants of the right to a fair trial if you fail to have a press conference every month to showcase the decedent's weeping, vengeance-seeking parents.so more brothers are not charged with manslaughter...SPM having another big press conference. Why does she need a press conference for every thing?
Sounds to me like she's trying to excuse her failure to make the prior charges stick.Just from following what's going on on Twitter, it appears that they were able to eventually recover the deleted surveillance footage, but were able to determine who deleted the footage in the first place. LOL. Wasn't she screaming at and sassing other folks half the time? She also wants a different Magistrate for the preliminary hearing. She said that the last hearing was a mess, but of course she and Tim's father had no blame in that. For once the father's statement was almost reasonable, but they are hard to pity.

This is the problem with most DAs in the legal system now. It's no longer a matter of doing their job efficiently with integrity.
It's now a matter of public relations and grandstanding in front of cameras either for ego, influencing a pending jury, or to start the process of running for higher office.
Or it has to do with people like you that need to know every fact of a case that has nothing to do with you.
People who were present at that party report that a number of the Trilogy girls had boda bags with wine in them, and that Tim (along with others) took repeated drinks from these boda bags. I wonder if any of that activity is on this video footage, or if this is another Stacy Parks Miller special, edited to show only the involvement of the Beta members. She was. She says video shows Tim drinking 18 drinks in an hour and 22 minutes. Did not say how many of them were on his own accord.
Well, 18 beers in 90 minutes would give you a BAC of .3825, which would be fatal or close to fatal.New evidence show's victim was given at least 18 drinks in 90 minutes... Deleting evidence is obviously not a good thing or look...

Investigators are filing new charges after recovering deleted security camera footage taken in a Penn State fraternity house the night a pledge consumed a dangerous amount of alcohol and suffered fatal injuries.
Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller announced Monday that the new evidence enabled police to determine that 19-year-old Beta Theta Pi pledge Tim Piazza was given at least 18 drinks over less than 90 minutes.
Piazza, an engineering student from Lebanon, New Jersey, was found to have suffered a fractured skull, shattered spleen and other injuries.
Miller says the new footage is the basis for charges against 10 additional defendants, as well as seven who’d been charged previously.
Miller is also accusing a fraternity member of deleting the video as police were seeking the footage in February.
I'm thinking that if he had drunk 18 beers in ninety minutes, he would have puked somewhere along the line. If I have my math right on this (always a risk), eighteen 16-ounce beers comes to 288 ounces. There are 128 ounces in a gallon, so that would be more than two gallons of beer hitting his gut in ninety minutes. No way you keep that much down. My guess some of those 18 drinks were hits of wine out of a boda bag. And probably shot glass sized hits.Well, 18 beers in 90 minutes would give you a BAC of .3825, which would be fatal or close to fatal.
Generally speaking, the public does want to know facts surrounding a high profile criminal case. That doesn't mean the DA must oblige. They are elected to that office with the expectation they will apply the law fairly. It's not about holding periodic news conferences in order to win the case before it even goes to trial. SPM must have taken some lessons from the PAOAG.Or it has to do with people like you that need to know every fact of a case that has nothing to do with you.
Article I read said every drink was given to him by a frat member. So he didn't walk over and grab a drink. She was. She says video shows Tim drinking 18 drinks in an hour and 22 minutes. Did not say how many of them were on his own accord.
Drinks could be 12 oz beers or 1.5 oz shot. Half of each is less then a gallon in 90 minutes. Very easy.I'm thinking that if he had drunk 18 beers in ninety minutes, he would have puked somewhere along the line. So a district attorney should stop doing their job just because they lost an election? Her obligation is to perform her duties to the fullest until her last day in office. If the evidence supports filing charges, then charges should be filed whether the district attorney has 50 days left in office or 500.Stacy Parks Miller has what, about 50 days left in office? She is now refiling charges and shopping for a new judge to preside at the preliminary hearing(s), hoping that the bulk of the charges do not get dismissed again. All the while knowing that her successor will be the one making decisions about whether to press forward with these charges. Apparently, she wants to leave office in a blaze of prosecutorial "glory."
That is not how the law is written though. You may not like the law but every fraternity needs to be aware of it. Ignorance of the law is not a defense. The other frat members chose on their own accord to participate in the activity and now must fae the consequences for their action. The entire night was on his own accord.
What happened is totally reprehensible in every fashion. Piazza did not deserve to die and the frat brothers should be held responsible through the criminal justice system.
However to pretend that Tim wasn't there on his own accord is simply not true. Tim Piazza made the decision to join a frat, Tim Piazza made the decision to accept a bid from this frat, and Tim Piazza made the decision to go to the party. He was one of the many people who made woefully bad choices that evening and had he lived, he would've been perpetuating the nonsense next year.
Sorry, dude, but this has morphed into a witch hunt.So a district attorney should stop doing their job just because they lost an election? Her obligation is to perform her duties to the fullest until her last day in office. If the evidence supports filing charges, then charges should be filed whether the district attorney has 50 days left in office or 500.
You mean the law that was used as basis for the charges that have been dismissed? That is not how the law is written though. You may not like the law but every fraternity needs to be aware of it. You don't need to hold a press conference to file charges. IMO it's impossible to get a fair trial in this country anymore because the jury pool is poisoned by publicity before the trial begins. So a district attorney should stop doing their job just because they lost an election? Her obligation is to perform her duties to the fullest until her last day in office. If the evidence supports filing charges, then charges should be filed whether the district attorney has 50 days left in office or 500.
Fine, but I submit "doing her job" does not include re-filing charges that have already been thrown out by a judge, and judge shopping to see if she can find a new judge who will rule differently. And holding yet another press conference to help poison both public opinion and the prospective jury pool. If it turns out she had some communication with her successor (who will obviously have more say in the future of these cases), then it will look more defensible. So a district attorney should stop doing their job just because they lost an election? Her obligation is to perform her duties to the fullest until her last day in office. If the evidence supports filing charges, then charges should be filed whether the district attorney has 50 days left in office or 500.

Doesn't she have to have a witness to authenticate the fraternity owned video tape/system? Tells me there is a fraternity witness in the prosecution side. Thought? And nowhere did I say that they shouldn't.
The point was that there are some who act like Piazza was an angel--he wasn't.
