Wow - the Husker faithful are going crazy over the upcoming visit from MP to their "Friday Night Lights" event this Friday. Local sports talk radio makes it sound like they now have the inside track. I know that he is exploring all of his options but I am shocked that he would venture out here for any kind of event.

Traveling man!

Getting a taste of the midwest. Cannot see him heading to such a small market. His ego is too big for that.

Mike Rozier and Irving Fryar (Franco's HS), both from South Jersey, made the trip and eventually stayed.

.... nearly 40 years ago..... for Mike Rozier
I would encourage any kid that can get these bankrupt athletic programs to spend money on their travelling ......to do so... as much as is possible.

Is nebraska's athletic program bankrupt?

When those guys went to UNL, UNL was in a stretch of not losing more than three games in a season over a 30 year stretch

Now, UNL hasn't lost LESS than 4 games each and every year of this century (IIRC)

From a recruits perspective, UNL "then vs now" is kinda' on par with comparing current day Alabama to Mississippi State :)

Didn't they get equally excited regarding Chris Bleich? How'd that work out for them?

True, but Chris Bleich is not MP. My surprise was Parsons traveling to Lincoln on his (dads) dime to visit a program still struggling for relevancy. That doesn't fit his MO. While out here he might as well drive over to Iowa State too.

Is Butts going or does he have a NEB offer? Check that...he does...I'll laugh if he goes the buddy system route for college.

It's not on his father's dime, it's on the airlines dime.

With no pro sports in Nebraska at the major league level, Nebraska football is huge there. It's the only game in the State so the players are the celebrities. The downside is that it's Nebraska!

Here I thought you meant visiting Abraham Lincolns birthplace.

What this board needs is another 4000 or5000 paranoid obsessed star struck recruit-nics to make a font of useful speculation.

I was thinking Lincoln University. Darn fine institution...

I know and I realized that when I posted. It was just a reminder re: UNL. Fryar and Rozier were great CFB players.:)

Doesn't Parsons's dad work for an airline, giving Micah more opportunities to travel than most?
He gets free airline tickets. I put their chances of landing him at .001%.

If not PSU/OSU, maybe Georgia, FSU or USC...someplace like that. With their location and recent track record they have no chance.

Maybe so. But I get the impression Parsons wants to be a Big Man on Campus. He'd certainly get a lot of attention from Husker fans, whereas he'd likely be one of many prominent players at some of the other top programs.

So who knows? But I wouldn't dismiss Nebraska so quickly.

Why is it that every other program is inferior in the eyes of so many posters on this board? We can't mention another school here without accusations of bag men, trashing the school, the location, slamming the coaches, academics, students, athletes, or some other reason. News flash: PSU isn't some god-like school or football program that is better than every other university in existence. Different schools have different pros and cons and what's good for one student or athlete isn't good for the other. If he wants to go check out Nebraska, so be it. I really wish just once, I'd see a thread about a recruit taking visits that takes the high road. I thought maybe a thread about Nebraska, a program many have a ton of respect for, might be that thread. I guess not. Sorry, rant over.
